Who Could resist this color! The new Oreck portable is much improved over my older model. It has a lot more suction-airflow,long hose, horsehair brushes in the floor nozzle and dusting brush, telescopic wand and a hepa filter on the rear. It is also much much quieter than the old machine. It has a padded handle and padded feet so it won't mar when sit on a table.
The upright is quiet and I love the lighting on the front. This one uses the Hepa oder free bag that looks more like material than paper. Love the color comb. It is a blackish-browish with pink trim. Also has very nice raised emblems on the bag and contrasting stitching.

Talk about a contrast in design! They are both new machines and both do the same function.

These Orecks are easy to use and easy to store. Can you imagine lifting a Dyson or Power Drive Hoover to hang out of the way on a wall.

Yes - the DC03 was designed with this in mind! The wand cap doubles as a storage hook.

Thanks Jack. That looks interesting. Dyson introduced a new improved canister on one of our Home Shopping channels yesterday.
Did you notice the extreme contrast between the Oreck and the Dyson. The Dyson is soooo out-there and the Oreck is so traditional looking. It makes the collecfting so interesting.
I had one of the first Dyson canisters and I love the design. I did have to return it because it was too damaging to some of my rugs, but it had great design. It was heavy to lift and the cord was short but FUN to use. Thanks Jack for all the info you share on the older Hoovers. Love those Hoover 150's

Hi Rob, which was the new Dyson canister, the DC23? I think it certainly is an improvement on the DC21, but I still don't think I'd go for a Dyson canister for serious everyday use.

Jack,
I checked it out and you are correct it is the DC23 and the price is $599.95. The one I had was a DC21. I remember it was a heavy sweeper for a canister but so cool looking!
Like the Oreck and Rainbow you have to admit that the Dyson is a unique vacuum.
Rob
