New Oreck Cordless

It is rather expensive, but I think that POD concept is really interesting, but are they disposable? I'm guessing so. The "expandable" feature is neat! I'd like to know more about this and would be interested in seeing how it performs. A 40 minute run time is not too bad! I wish they could cut down on the charge time though.

I agree the specs look pretty good on paper. I'm guessing the pods are basically a bag. It also looks like it is direct air, judging by the design of the intake. Also looks like the outside of the "pod" storage system is a pourous material to diffuse air. It certainly is interesting.

Ok I got the latest from a lovely woman named Charlotte at Oreck Customer Service.

The Oreck Cordless Pod will be released in the Spring, she is guessing June and it will first ONLY be available in the Oreck Branded Stores and she was not clear if the “preorder” online orders would be delivered before or at the same time the Store releases them.

She said the “Pod” is the disposal method which is a fiber/paper bag with plastic cap and it snaps into the vacuum but when its full and you dispose of it she said you don’t touch the pod, just eject it into the trash for clean hands free disposal.

It is going to be $499 but it will come with many attachments and lots of features (Mini Motorized Brushroll, Dusting Brush, Upholstery tool and Crevice are just some of them, She said there is about 8 attachment tools for the Pod. It will run for 40 minutes on a 2 1/2 hour charge and the battery is NOT removable. So far the non-removable battery is the only thing I see I wont like.

They were told about this Pod in December and she said the latest information for them is still rather vague as it’s literally still in the final development stages. If you sign up with your email at Oreck you will be kept informed of new information regarding the Oreck Cordless Pod.

I can’t wait to order this and if they don’t do online ordering first.. I’ll be driving an hour to the nearest Oreck Store. She said they will NOT be sold in the dealer stores that sell other vacuums and Oreck but only in the actual Oreck branded Stores.

Thanks so much for sharing @singingrainbow. I’d just looked at the Oreck site the other day and didn’t see this. I will let you guys know on here if I find out anything else.

@ cuffs054

Like anything else "innovative" and "limited distribution" it will be very costly to begin with, but give it a few years and the price will fall off.

I found more information on the Oreck Pod... I found out it will be offered in Black and White. I also found out it is going to be advertised as a “full size upright” and the brushroll is to be better than Dyson or any of the other cordless vacuums. It will have a combination of Stiff Bristles for deep carpet cleaning mixed with softer (and longer) bristles for hard floor cleaning. It’s supposed to have unbelievable suction, the best in class for a cordless.

The disposable “Pods” are expandable to save space when new in package and I think I mentioned but in case I didn’t.. you will never have to touch the full pod when emptying the vacuum.. it will pop off and into the trash can.

The Oreck Pod Cordless will have a BlueTooth phone app, similar to the Hoover REACT and it’s call “InVision Intelligence” combining the app and indicator lights to show bag capacity, as well as battery capacity and other perfomance indicators.

One thing I was told by the Oreck Representative Charlotte may be wrong as you will see in the picture I’ve attached. She said the Oreck Pod would only be sold in Oreck Branded Stores.. but the display model in the picture is located in a Vacuum store that sells many brands. I also am confused by this that she told me because as @luxkid1980 said, they are advertising it now on theoreckstore.net. Which sells other brand vacuums like Miele, etc. Charlotte did admit they were intentionally keeping them in the dark somewhat as they want this to be the next huge thing for Oreck. We shall see.....

Lastly, it will have what Oreck is calling the “White Glove Warranty” which I’m told is an all inclusive (even the battery) warranty that for THREE years, everything will be fixed free of charge and the typical yearly Oreck “Tuneups” will be included as well for the Pod.

tfw when there's a teaser trailer for a stick vac.

idk it looks like an interesting setup. It's really neat that they're using - basically - a bagged setup and not giving in to the bagless revolution. Good for them. I hope they actually sell some, but at that price... eh...

I see now, it does say air powered floorhead. I've never used one before so not sure how they perform. I foresee no issues on the hard surfaces, but carpets may be a different story.

They should have made it an electric powered nozzle then they would have a very good product that I'd like to own.
