Well at least it HAS a hose built in. I rather like the look of it and it swivels too!

Many of their recent products go directly against their well established philosophy of simplicity. Two bagless uprights(both with bypass motors), HEPA air purifiers, and foreign made, sometimes outsourced products. Selling uprights at Target must be hurting the dealers. What's going on?

BagInTheBack, Tom Oreck stepped down as the CEO of Oreck back in 2010. Doug Cahill replaced Tom in 2010.
It's a crying shame that Tom Oreck stepped down as the CEO of Oreck.

new basic vacuum questions for vac shoppers:
Cannister or upright, bag or bagless, swivel steering or regular? I have to say i have become rather fond of my Electrolux Nimble & the steering is a big part, that & the quiet operation. Now about those pesky, weak cheap plastic nibs waiting to break off when you disassemble the dirt cup for cleaning...
Hmmm don't know about the grayness of this Oreck though. Looking for a Pilot that needs some TLC to get my swivel on Oreck style....

I tried to get on with the Nimble in a shop I tried one in but it seems I couldn't get it to clean flat to the floor - that's where my Felix seems to do better in as well as just feeling a lot better made. The Nimble is very stylish though - I wish Hoover's UK/European neighbouring products were just as easy on the eye.

Oreck noise levels...
I don't think either vacuum in that video link is noisy - not if you have a Hoover Windtunnel Air or Vax Mach Air. A lot of bagless vacuums are these days but it doesn't sound too much of a "screamer" to me.
I like the idea of the Versa Vac. If Oreck can get that to the UK they'll probably have good product on their hands. I just fear that as usual with Oreck UK, we'll have to wait several years for these new products to arrive unless the U.S company get their finger out and do a worldwide launch.

I got to try one out,
and it's not all that bad!
It's nice that it swivels, And has excellent cyclonic action. The hose is there for quick and easy reach, and appears to groom and clean nicely.
While the motor is on the "Loud" side, I find it to be more tolerable than that of an XL2.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm new to this forum!
I can see why Oreck have gone down the bagless route as that seems to be the most popular choice for the consumer these days! Oreck want a share of this market!
I've gone back to a bagged vacuums after years of using bagless and for me thinking bagless was better I've personally find this not necessary to be the case! I don't really miss the emptying and cleaning the messy bin out and washing the filters!

RE: Oreck. What complete hypocrites!! Remember those "bagless is a dirty word" infomercials? Bloody sell outs! I really cannot stand the company. The vacuum wasn't even David Oreck's original idea or design! And I've never been impressed with the performance of the cleaners either. Completely over-rated.

I think it's just a case that someone at Oreck thinks their core design is not what people want. As I understand it, a good deal of people still want a bagged cleaner. As for that Oreck Hero, what can I say. I've seen similar on the shelves of Tesco.

Or it could well be that Oreck are realising that there are other U.S companies who are offering the similar kind of upright, cue Simplicity etc. Oreck need another product that is going to bring in sales. Also I see the UK have finally got a new cylinder vacuum in by Oreck, called the Quest.
