I got this Miele red star a few days ago and let me tell you I got it for a steal it was listed on kijijifor $80 but I offered a bold $40 and he said yes. So I went and picked it up it was in great condition but I am not a fan of the power nozzel so I am pretty sure I will sell it. Here are some pics thanks. Zach

the powernozzle

if you don't mind me asking how do you think it does at deep cleaning? All the models I want to get come with that but I am thinking I may upgrade it at the time of purchase.

hey

hey Zach its Andrew if you are going to sell the vacuum or the power nozzle let me know and i got a problem with my electrolux ambassador iii white and blue i am going to take a look at her tomorrow.

I wonder if you'd keep it if you got a more aggressive power nozzle? My Miele Plus has the 217 power nozzle too, and it's not very powerful, but it's quiet and very maneuverable... a quick release neck, integrated cord, and height adjustment would greatly improve the user experience, but combined with the tremendous Miele suction, it does to a respectable job on my flat carpet. That was quite a deal you got and you could certainly turn it for a profit if you so desired.

Hi,
You can upgrade the powernozzle to a Miele Seb234 which is the same as 236 but with a different connection. It will work with your RedStar. Congratulations on your Miele. That is a great find.

That's the vac we have! It's great for picking up dog hair and it is the quietest vac we have ever owned. We upgraded ours to the SEB17 power nozzle.

Could you do me a favor? Look on the hose where it goes into the machine, is there a gasket on the connector? Or a spring on the top of the cannister inside where the tube fits into the bag?

Mine is blowing a lot of dust out of the machine and I can't figure out why.

Thanks!

If you have a spare $250, you could buy a SEB228 PN, that's the best of the lot that miele offers (developed by Wessel Werk I think), it's nothing like the Tristar (especially mine) or Sebo PNs, but it's a start...

And if you want better airflow, swap the bags with GN bags, they're bigger thus allowing more air to filter through, not got a clue about the pre & post motor filters though, they're pretty restrictive given that they're not pleated or anything... :&#92

It's funny, that one looks identical to my S316i, same colour and everything, only I nicknamed mine the "Red Baron"... :P

Well in answer to all your questions as far a deep cleaning goes if you have a low pile carpet it actually seems to do a good job but if anyone was going to buy a miele I would strongly suggest the upgrade even though it is a bit more money. And as far as me selling it I have listed it on kijiji here in Edmonton for $280 and I know I can get that much out of it here in edmonton and to the his question it has a large metal ring or gasket on the hose end thanks. Zach

I had one of those years ago, I loved it but I wasnt really collecting newer machines so I sold it on ebay. I paid $5.00 for it from a Tri Star dealer (long gone now). He was selling everything $5.00 each that day and I bought about 60 to resell lol. anyhow I think it sold for over $300.00 on ebay.
Congratulations on the awesome find. Love that model

Red Star

I have a Red Star and it was my first Miele. It has that kind of power nozzle on it. I think the power nozzle is kind of wimpy but I love the vacuum....Dan
