The DC15 I had from brand new - I bought it in 2006 and used it for 6 years before retiring it into the collection. I want to preserve it as the DC15 is quite a rare beast, especially now, in good condition, and the white allergy model was probably the rarest variant, with the animal and the origin being more popular. They were very expensive when launched, and only ran for a couple of years before being replaced by the DC18. Many people thought the DC15 was an expensive gimmick, and the DC14 which it was modelled on was a much, much bigger seller. The DC15 was a very heavy cleaner, and this was its main downfall - hence the DC18 and later the DC25, which is like a miniature version of the DC15.

The DC15 will always be significant as it was the very first Dyson Ball cleaner, but it wasn't the big money spinner for Dyson as he thought, with the DC14 outselling it by miles.

The DC15 was also the first Dyson twin motor upright vac - setting the trend for the future models, but this has been another problem for Dyson with many brushroll failures blighting later models, especially the DC24.
