Growing up in the 80's and 90's my mum had a Hoover Constellation. If I remember right it was probably an early 80's model with the white rocker switch and white top and dark yellow/tan bottom part. I have an idea where it might be and this week I will try and find it and clean it up and see if it still works. Wish me luck.

In the meantime my nostalgia got the better of me and I found this Constellation 867A 580 watts for sale cheap and only about a mile a way from me, so I picked it up on Saturday. It has some attachments but unfortunately no extension wand. Yes it has got some patina but it works fine, not loud and great suction. The hovering does work too but seems only on carpets. On the tiled floor it does not really hover.

What do you think of it ? From researching online I would hazard a guess that it is a late 60's or early 70's model.

Wish me luck in finding my mums old one this week :)

Welcome to vacuumland. I would say early to mid sixties. around 62-64/65 I would say. I may be wrong though. I wish you luck in finding that Connie.
Thank you. I looked today but so far did not find it or any of the tools... and I do need the extension/wand/tube tool as its missing. Maybe also the multi use tool would be nice too.

Compatible Hoover wands are always on the US eBay site and vac shops have boxes of them from trade ins they parted out.

You are most welcome. Maybe try contacting Sam Watson, he might be able to get you one cheaper. He goes by beko1987 on YouTube and if you go to his channel description and scroll down then click view email address and do a I'm not a robot thing you should be able to contact him.

No, they won't. Hoover had a brand-specific fitting. If you use the short tube adapter from a henry you MAY (no promises) be able to adapt something.
There is an adapter out there to allow standard fittings to be used with the old female Hoover hose end. I glued one into the neck of a nice parquet floor brush so I could put it on an Hoover wand and use it with my old Hoover canisters instead of the smaller Hoover hard floor brush.

Welcome and congratulations on your Constellation purchase.

In reply #2 centrsalsweeper63 guessed it to be from the mid-'60s, and he is correct. Attached is a photo collection of the entire Jonquil & Hop Green set to which your Constellation belongs.

Also, from what you described, I would guess that your childhood Constellation is from the Aegean Gold & Ivory set also attached.

To view all the Hoover colourways from the '50s to the early '80s take a look at this archived thread: https://vacuumland.org/threads/uk-hoover-colour-range.15470/

Happy Hoovering
