Well darlings, I'm continuing to have zero luck being able to repair the hose on my Kenmore. Yes, it makes me very blue. I have an old upright & canister, so a new machine doesn't need to be bought immediately. My other half is quite the researcher & is being told to avoid Electrolux. He's also told that bagless machines are a no-no. This sucks, since my Kenmore is bagless & I adore it. We've got 4 shedding corgis....I can't imagine how many bags I'd need.

So, if anyone wants to give me their 2 cents on what I should buy, GREAT!

Bagless machines are horrible. Bagged machines are better. In the vein of bagged power nozzle canisters, only Sears can sell them, and it's only Kenmore. Sears is dying.

Does it have to be a new machine? Would you consider previously used? Electrolux (now Aerus) are very good machines. I have the Electrolux Epic 6500SR canister that is great. I found it at the thrift store for maybe $20. I like that I can clean the carpets with the power nozzle, then do the hard floor surfaces with the combination rug/floor tool and use the crevice tool if needed for tight spaces. The Oreck I have for carpets is great, but I'm considering letting it go in favor of the Electrolux since it is more of an all-in-one machine.

If your other half is saying to avoid new Electrolux branded machines that are typically found in chain stores like Lowe's or Walmart, he/she would be right! They are definitely not he same caliber machines as what you find in a actual Aerus vacuum store and I would stay away from those imposters! Also, I have to agree with staying way from bagless machines.

If you are willing to buy used (even at an actual vacuum store), you can save a ton and get a very good machine. People seem to dump their older machines in favor of something bagless or something that is new on the shelf. "New" most certainly does not mean better in the case of vacuums.

If you want an Electrolux, get one from the 1960's. my grandmother's she bought new back in the 60's is still running to this day with next to no service, 50 years later. but that power sweeper attachment and its faulty brushroll design, it keeps slipping out of the axle on mine. i found someone makes redesigned rollers to retrofit in there that won't fall out.
