New Kirby bags? Micro allergen Plus?

I've stumbled across this package of bags a few times now. Has anyone tried these? Is there a difference between the blue/green packaged ones?

I'm not sure they're the same thing. I can't tell weather the red package is newer than the green and blue or the other way around. It's also hard to tell which package contains the absolute best quality bags. Here's why:


 


The written specifications state that the bags in the red package are PAPER bags. This may be a mistake.


 


The written specifications for the green and blue package state that these are CLOTH bags.


 


The yellow badge in the upper left hand corner of the red package states that these bags are Kirby's ULTIMATE filtration bag.


 


The yellow badge in the upper left corner of the green and blue package states that these bags are Kirby's BEST filtration bag.


 


And most importantly to me is that the red package LACKS THE CRI seal of approval found on the left side of the green and blue package.

Micron Magic

What ever happened to "Micron Magic" bags?

Have these bags-they are the Filtrete cloth type bags.When I compared them to the "Green" pack F universal bags-no difference.Maybe a Kirby guy can chime in here and solve the mystery.

I've sold these in my store. It's just Kirby rebadging another product. It's nothing new. Kirby really needs to come up with something new or close it's doors all together. The last time they unveiled something new was in April 1990. It's the most hated vacuum ever made largely due to the way they are sold by deceptive salesmen. At the end of the day, it's still a Kirby. A 900 pound, $3,000 dust belching boat anchor. I'd rather repair them and sell the bags and belts all day long though.

Have you advised Warren Buffet of your knowledge?  Because one of the riches men in the world was so impressed with Kirby that he acquired Scott/Fetzer, Parent company of Kirby and is now part of Burkshire Hathaway.


 


I'm sure if he had known the boat anchors were not going to make it, he would have passed on this acquisition.


 


Maybe you prefer something lighter weight, disposable and Chinese made?

Obviously you are not being truthful. If Kirby's belch dust, how did they get a Gold seal of approval from CRI? I own several Kirby's and the only one I would say even comes close to belching any dust is my D50 which of course has a shakeout bag.

Micron Magic® was introduced by Kirby in 1993. It was one of the first major improvements in Kirby's disposable bags, since the single ply bags which began in 1979.

And further enhancements have taken place since.

In 1999, the Micron Magic® HEPA filtration [Outer layer was paper] bags were introduced. These were rated as H10 standards. ~~These are NOW discontinued.~~

In 2003, the Micron Magic® HEPA Allergen Reduction Filters (ARF) [Outer layer was now synthetic] [bags] were introduced. These were rated as H11 standards.

In August 2015, the Micron Magic® MicroAllergen Plus [An add'l layer was/is now added] were introduced. These are again, improved HEPA standards.

This past Friday I received a flyer introducing ODOR FIGHTER filtration bags. They are still Micron Magic®, as they all have been since 1993; however, now with Charcoal Filtration. [A Charcoal layer has now been added]. These are geared towards homes with pets.

My first supply order of them should be here tomorrow (Friday).

PS: Harley is correct, (see above). In fact, when Buffet (BH) purchased Scott & Fetzer, Kirby was the only division (of SF) he 'left alone' & did not make changes to. (So I understand.)



PPS: A little history...

Contrary to what other 'experts' say or have said; James Kirby, I believe, may have invented the FIRST disposable bag, with his patent applied for January 20th 1915, before Airway.

It was a disposable bag within a cloth bag.

For whatever reason(s), he never brought it to the Kirby/Vacuette/SF systems. I've been told he was a stickler for waste, & didn't like the idea of throwing 'them' away, when one could empty & re-use a permanent bag!?!?!

Just like he used water for filtration, in 1906; 30 years before Rexair/Rainbow! I believe water may have been used for filtration even earlier than that by someone else?!?!

If Kirbys are so hated-why are they popular?Haven't had any dust belching problems with any of mine!I have seen HEAVIER,clumsy,clacky,creaky vacuums that are better dust belchers than a Kirby-the other day I was helping Mike clean out his vac shop-he gave me the pleasure of heaving a bagless LG Compressor dust belcher into the dumpster-the noise it made must have been heard down the block!The machine would play a silly tune when plugged in,but emitted a strange noises and smoke when turn on.A paddle in the dust bin was trying to compact the dust(made me think of a paddle compactor-packer trash truck)This vacuum was heavier and clumsier than a Kirby.It will meet the moving "Wall of Steel"in the Pak-Mor FL trash truck.Wish I could see and hear it!

I have often wondered why bag manufacturers have not offered these charcoal lined bags for a variety of vacuums. Oreck has had them for years, and have always been big sellers, an easy upgrade to customers from the standard "hypo-allergenic" bag. I wish I could get them for more brands, as I am a shedding dog owner, and they definitely help. These bags will prompt me to use one of my Kirbys more.

Kirby's disposable 'charcoal' filter bags...

Our retail (brick & motor) price on them is going to be $12.95, for now anyway on the 2PK. [ You guys' price is $7.76 for the 2PK. ]

I just spoke with one of my 'go to people' at the factory, & it's going to be a few months before we get the 6PKs. However, it should be less than the six (6) months it took to get the MicroAllergen Plus, in 6PKs.



I've already had customers excited to get the ODOR FIGHTER filtration bags. It will be interesting to see if there's a substantial shift to purchasing these two (2) new styles verses the others.


Here at the Customer Service Center, probably 85% or more of the bag purchases are for the synthetic style bags.
