New Kirby Avalir?

Hey Everyone!

I've been thinking about purchasing a new Kirby Avalir over the past few months. I know Kirby dealers take trade-ins, but my question is do they take more than one? I have a Heritage II and a G4, both in great condition. Although they are excellent machines, and I would be sad to see them go, I would eventually be ok since I would be getting a brand new Kirby. If anyone could give me some insight or helpful advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!

Well, you could trade both in and get a very low price. In 2012 my parents set up a demo from kirby. At the time the newest model was the Sentra II. Anyway, it was pretty expensive, but the demo lady said she'll take one of my Korbut to lower the price. At the time I had a Gsix, Legend II, & Classic 1CR. I wanted to keep the older ones so I decided to trade the Gsix. That brought the price from $2800 to $1500, then the lady said she was going to lower it some more because she liked how I knew so much about kirbys. The final price was $950. Pretty good deal. I heard that many dealers lower prices from the customer knowing lot about kirbys. It's up to you.

So you could trade both for a much lower price. A vacuum collector on vacuum land had a 2005 diamond edition in great shape and a 2007 Sentra in good shape. He traded both for a brand new 2009 Sentria. The price he paid was only $350. Think, $350 out of $2800. Very good deal.

Look on Ebay as they have quite a few on there that's where I got several of them & one of them was under $300 fully kitted out & I could care less if they are warranted they never really go bad, just look at the pictures carefully to see how worn or scratches on them.

The factory suggested retail price of the Kirby Avalir is printed on the side of the box. Many dealers will try to cover it up, so they can try to overcharge you. The truth is, you don't HAVE to trade in any old model to get a great price on the new one.

First, you must get your CASH together. Financing the machine costs the distributorship money, so always pay cash for the lowest price. You have tons of room to dicker with the salesperson.

Bear in mind that the salesman makes his highest commission from selling you the machine for the list price. Since you are already going to buy it, he needn't spend more than about fifteen minutes with you. Offer him $800 with no trade in. Play hardball. Refuse to go any higher. Use eBay and the number of Avalir's on there right now, as a bargaining tool. Deal or no deal. Take the $800 or I'm buying it off eBay. You'll get the machine (no shampooer or optional accessories) for your $800 offer.

A Kirby salesman offered to sell me a brand new Avalir for $500 (his wholesale cost) IF I would show it off to everyone I knew and help him get in houses where he could put on demos. I know that in a year or so, the Avalir will be in pawn shops across America, priced very low (like Sentria II's are now), so I didn't go for it.

That makes sense. You could also look on eBay and maybe Craigslist. One time I saw a used avalir on Craigslist for $225. Just some things to think about

The end of the month is the best time to make a Take it or leave it deal.  Dealers are trying to move the most metal (Kirbys) in order to qualify for other incentives for the end of month goals through their distributors.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Some great advice here. Knowing that about the end of the month is really helpful. I'm unable to schedule anything today, but I'll plan on getting a demonstration set up for the end of April. I guess in the meantime I'll decide if I'll sell my two Kirbys and use that profit towards the Avalir, or just use them as trade-ins. I'm really excited about the Avalir. I was going to hold out and wait for Kirby to release a whole new design and look, but I love the black/red and chrome combination of the Avalir!
