New Kenmore Bagless Canisters

I noticed in last weekend's sale ad that Sears now has two new Kenmore bagless canisters with PNs.

The higher end one is purple. Interestingly, instead of using the current hose and wand connection like the Progressives has, it has the older metal ended hose and wands. The hose handle looks like the one the first and second gen Progressives had. Also, the attachments are the older style as well from when they had four attachments. The dusting brush and crevice tool store on the wand it seems, but I can't tell where the upholstery brush and floor brush store.

The lower end one is silver. I can't really tell who makes this unit, but it doesn't seem to have any Panasonic characteristics like the purple one does.

I seen them too...

I went to sears to check them out. I didn't see where the upholstery brush goes either or the Power-Mate Jr. It looks like it has a decent filtration system. The smaller one is awful on the other hand. The attachments also tore on the wand but are to big for the hose end so it comes with this adapter but the adapter doesnt store onboard..like how stupid is that to have onboard tools that dont fit. I was like so am I supposed to carry the adapter in my pocket? The filter system doesn't look so hot eiter, the hepa filter is also the pre filter and the pleats were already clogged on it and the woman said they just put them out this week.

The Power nozzle seems decent for a small cheap vac but its no good without suction lol

I work at Sears and have had the opportunity to test out the new purple bagless Kenmore. I am known as the vacuum guy at work and as soon as it came in they had me test it out. It is rather quite and not as noisy as I expected. It has a decent filtration system and when I used it on the office carpets the power nozzle really took off. I was surprised at how much dirt it pulled out of the carpets. One downside is the bin release is real tricky and can be finicky. I thought I was going to break the bin trying to get it off. As for tool storage I can't comment because the associates at my Sears just lays the accessories off to the side of the vacuum. All in all it's pretty decent. The cheaper one I have yet to test yet and really don't have a desire to as it looks like it could be under-powered.

Kenmore has also released two new cheap bagged low end upright vacuums. They are not showing up on sears.com or the Kenmore website, but we do have them on display in our store. There are 4 models: Two are $60 and you can chose bagged or bagless. The other two are $100 and again bagged or bagless. I have yet to see the bagless models to determine what kind of filtration/cyclonic set-up they have. I haven't used the new bagged models but they don't seem to bad. The hose doesn't stretch and I believe they come with 3 decent sized tools, (dusting brush, crevice tool, upholstery tool, and I believe one extension wand.) If anyone has any questions just let me know and I will get back to you with what I can.

I like the looks of it too, glad it seems to work as well as it looks. The attachments seem nice, like the older ones, too bad it doesn't have a floor brush with it. But with the 1-1/4" ends it is easy to add one, and use any other attachments you'd like.

<span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">I just use the Lux combo floor brush/rug tool for vacing tile floors.  The ONLY thing I dislike is the Power Mate Jr uses a flat belt & no overload protection on the PM Jr</span>

Yeah, only the very early Power Mate Juniors had the overload protection, if any. I'm surprised it uses a flat belt, although this one and the blue Intuition use the older style PM Jr, while the Progressives use the newer one. I have a newer one but haven't looked to see what kind of belt it uses. I thought the older ones we have with the Whispertones used a geared belt but it's been a while since I had them apart.
