New in box Hoover Floor washer

It's arrived !!! I picked up my Hoover Floor Washer model 3506 that I won from ebay in Germany for 40 euro. It's brand new in it's box and has never been removed or used it has all it's paperwork inculding the packing slip from North Canton stating it was packed and checked by "Packer No 6556"

The motor sounds great, I have added some pics

The plastic water bag...

...how does the water go into it if air cannot go through plastic? Also this looks like a regina/oreck carpet washer... is that where they got the idea?

Well won Mark,

I saw that myself and was tempted! It wasn't until this one came up that I realised they'd been sold in some European countries (not the UK though). Have you tried it out yet, or are you keeping it in unused condition? I love the fact that it uses solid soap and not a liquid detergent!

Floor Wash

Another fine Hoover exhibit, quite a World Collection you have now, I hadnt realised about the solid soap bar until Simon mentioned it....when you think Hoover had some of the best innovative models for ease of use and functionality acros the world...just looking at your floor polisher vacs from Italy etc....

I had never seen one until the first AW convention, I was with Scott at the Estate Sales and he was pointing out the various models etc...

Floor Washers...

Those are very cool machines, I have both of the US versions.. Yellow like this one, and the later blue one.

The tank on that thing works verymuch like that of a Bissell Carpet Cleaner... You fill the yellow tank with detergent and water, and it gets dispensed to the floor by gravity when you squeeze the trigger. You scrub with it, and when you want to pick the water up, push the red button on the handle. The motor is actually below the tank, behind the Hoover medallion. There is a hollow tube that runs up the back of the machine which carries suction to the area above the tank (where the flappy thing that has the Hoover logo on it which smacks shut when you push the button to pick up the water). When that valve is closed, suction is sent down yet another tube to the nozzle. The water is drawn up that second tube, and because the water has some weight to it, once it gets to the top of the tube--it falls into the plastic "dirty water" bag... and never reaches the tube that carries the suction up from the motor.

If that makes sense. I feel like I need to draw a picture... Perhaps I will later, after work.

The "bar of soap" is actually a defoamer cake, which the dirty water when being sucked up passes over--to knock down the suds--so only water and a little bit of suds goes into the dirty water bag.

Thanks, I was well pleased with the win given the price I got it for, it just the shipping cost that kills. Like you my view was that the Floor Washers where only sold in the North American market until I saw it on ebay in Germany. Funny how Hoover sold some models in some market and not others. We never had the Floor washer down under, our range here used to copy the UK range until the mid 80's.

I have powered it up and the motor sounds great but I not going to use it. She's now back in her box until I have a house big enough to display them all.

I agree with you about innovative models over the years shame we cant say that now about the current Hoover. Have to say I love some of the strange models that Hoover had in Europe during the 60's 70's and 80's so different from anything we had down here.
