One of the most interesting aspects of the filming I did for my clip for the 'One Show' was one of the cleaners Hoover sent along - I couldn't talk about it before, but seeing as it's now been featured in trade magazines, I guess it's alright to post these photos.
Hoover have been very busy over the past few months preparing to launch a new product range, presumably to replace the now 10-year old Purepower/Dustmanager range. There will be 3 all-new cyclonic machines: a lightweight upright, the Slalom, a standard upright, the Freedom, and a cylinder, the Xarion.
The Slalom looks to have a Sebo Felix-style steerable head. It looks very interesting; I'll certainly be buying one as soon as they become available!
They feature new dust separation technology called 'Airvolution' - which looks to be similar to the Dyson root-cyclone idea.
The date given for the launch of the new cleaners is the end of July - so not long to wait.
The Freedom is pictured below; but this is no ordinary Freedom...this one is a pre-production prototype!
The scripted idea was that Carol Thatcher would present this cleaner to me on film as a gift to my collection from Hoover. Hoover would then take the prototype back with them, and give me a production machine. Regrettably, since the BBC don't allow product endorsements - aside from the studio guests who turn up to plug their latest DVD/book/exercise video - the section wasn't filmed.
However, Hoover have very generously said they will present me with one anyway, once the new machines hit the market at the end of this month. They didn't get the free advertising they were hoping for, so they have no reason to do this other than as a kind gesture.
Anyway, onto the photos:
