it looks very similar to the oreck maybe a little stiffer. the one I saw was like that any way and surprisingly enough it had the 4 amp motor and was pretty close to the weight of an oreck

Are you sure you saw one at Big Lots? Shark makes one as well that's very much an Oreck clone.
I kinda like that Hoover one, little pricey though at the moment. I'll wait till they're down to < $100

Yes, I have seen a soft bagged Hoover, that looks like an Oreck at the Big Lot stores here in Columbus. Ohio. Home
office of Big Lots. I had a friend tell me on New Years
eve. that he had bought one before the Hoover store closed
On Christmas eve. The model I saw at Big Lots, was either
139.99 or 99.99. I don't remember for sure.
I really like the look of this one !

David Oreck is not gonna be happy...

What i dont understand is, TTI had the chance to correct one of Orecks major shortcomings: the silly narrow agitator with those weird, useless edge brushes. They could have easily designed a machine with edge-to-edge sweeping action. Instead they copy the Oreck!

That IS a good looking machine, and look at the placement of the headlight!

Oreck Clones

"David Oreck is not gonna be happy... "

I'm sure David Oreck isn't worried. There have been plenty of Oreck "clones" in the past few years, many are nothing more than a flash in the pan (i.e. Bissell Prolite/Kenmore e4). It may look like an Oreck, but somehow I doubt it's made as well. As we all know, Hoover is no longer made in the U.S.A., for now, Oreck is. I'm just about to try one of those Oreck "copycats," called the Elektrapure. I've seen it marketed under other names such as Maid Lite and Avanti. Anyone have any experience with those?

New Hoover Line

IMHO, I really thought Hoover was on the right track when they revived the Constellation, now with the TTI takeover, I'm not so sure. I wish they, like Kirby, would return to their roots and produce a retro-inspired upright, certainly a Convertible would not be difficult, or maybe even a Dial-A-Matic! This cleaner looks like something from another planet, too futuristic, and TOO MUCH PLASTIC!!!!

sbnhvlvr, thanks saying that... I was going to say the same thing! I've seen the Soft and Easy at Big Lots... and this model is way too new to be there yet. Give it a couple years! I must say I do like the looks of this one... they have a bagless version and a stick vac too.. maybe a hand vac as well... I can't remember... it's going to be a whole series.

If you are talking about the new Hoover Platinum Series, I saw the spread for them in the J.C.Penney Spring catalog and there is a stick vac, hand vac, bagged upright, bagless upright, and a carpet shampooer. I know the bagged upright was liosted at $399 and I really want to try one but won't pay that price.
