Numatic 'floating carpet nozzle'
......as supplied with, if my memory serves me: 'Basil'; henry shaped but no cord rewind. In production 1988-95ish?
Nozzle was all in black plastic, large rear wheels near elbow, small wheel either side of the 'single channel' type suction opening, small red synthetic litter pick strips and pvc (full length of nozzle) blades (that move in both the forward and backward directions)
I remember thinking how good they looked as this design would both gently lift/card the carpet nap and utillise the full air flow and prevent 'clamping'.
I indulged myself with a Hetty about two years ago now and a little later I found, with glee, on ebay, a supply of these heads available from an outlet about forty-five miles from me, at Ellesmere Port.
If used with a numatic or any other make with a 'push /twist' 32mm dia fitting it produces an easy and effective result.
I operate mine on the low speed setting.
I have also found the head more than satisfactory when used with my Nilfisk GS80 which has a single speed 700w motor and is very strong.
I can thoroughly recommend this format of nozzle for the domestic enviroment.
I have pondered now and again, over the last twenty-five years or so as to way numatic in particular, did not fit the 'open throated' or if you like: 'wessel-werk' design?
Hats off to Numatic!!!!!!!!
