well, i over spent to get a new in the box green bison. now i'm afraid i must list it for sale to get my money back. BUMMER. i love that machine. if you're a serious collector looking for this, check ebay over the next 2 weeks. it will not be cheap as i paid over $700.00 with shipping. looking to get most of it back. if you don't see it, it means i just can't let it go. i'm torn about the whole thing !

Considering the fact that I've purchased a green Bison for $30 and a Centurion for $85, I'd say good luck with that price.....

If indeed it is brand-new and in the box, that price is not out of the realm of possibility. I found one (the green one in the box with the attachments - brand new NIB albeit decades old) and sold it a week later on Ebay for over $800.00. You just need the right marketing and timing of interested buyers. Vacuser paid over $700 for it, and what a willing buyer is willing to pay a willing seller sets a market price. My sale confirms that the price requested is not out of the realm of possibility. Just keep at it. Keep in mind that there is not a deep market for this rare machine.

Don't Fell Bad! You are not the only one!

I payed $650.00 + shipping on a Vintage Kenmore Imperal Bugeye Vacuum Cleaner, on Jan 2014. Sure it cost alot, and I was broke over 2 weeks, I only have enough money for gas and a bit for food. but it is worth it.

for those of you who were negative, shame on you. if you only paid $30.00 for a brand new in the box bison, hooray for you & i don't really believe it. show me & i will. i will be selling it on ebay & i expect to get most if not all of the money i spent back. if not i will have a gem of a vacuum that most collectors can only dream of. thanks for all the positive comments.

you really are a tad delusional. this vacuum is NOT sought after but by a very small niche of vacuum collectors. if you think a starting bid of $700 will get a purchase, youre going to be relisting it for a LONG time. very high priced selling vacuums usually start at very low bids. EXPECTING a price what you impulse bought and now regret doing is very presumptuous that others will do the same.

i can tell you really dont understand how "antique" selling and apprisals work. just because you think its "worth" something, doesnt mean anyone else does or even cares. ive had offers for $1000 for my 1931 scott fetzer sanitation system ive restored. and its 100% original and works just fine.

unless you have OFFERS from collectors wanting to pay that much, thinking thats what you will GET is foolhardy. ive watched prices for rare vacuums on ebay for several years and tracked trends of what sells and what doesnt. the MEAN price ive seen NIB bison's sell for is between $300 and $400. only twice have i seen them listed higher, and only one sold for about $600. if ANY parts are damaged, broken or missing, you price to sell will be cut in half at best.

dont require someone to pay what you did because you made a poor financial choice. list it STARTING at $99.99 with NO RESERVE and be happy with what you get.

Then,  I got huge deals on others.  For instance,  I got a BRAND NEW Hoover "anniversary" Windtunnel  for.... are you ready??  TWENTY dollars!  That's right.   I've gotten sought after vacuums  dirt cheap... seller had no idea. I also got a HOOVER "Z"... quite cheap also.


  So,  yes,  one can get a deal.  Then,  again,  one has paid dearly.


  It would never be my place to judge or bash another.

NIB Filter Queen on Ebay for about what you're hoping to get.
The most painful discussions for me on VL are people insisting what something is worth.
Worth to "you" is my answer..thanks for telling us what you would pay for the vacuum.
Lets let the market decide what someone else might pay for the vacuum.
Or we could just search sold vintage vacuums on Ebay with a high sticker price, and suggest you email the seller with you opinion on it's "real value", cuz you know, how you almost bought one like it once at a garage-sale for $5.
I will remind you Ebay does take a cut and shipping a well packed monster like a Bison will be pricey.
Remember, people pay vastly more for Kirbys and Rainbows and all the DTD vacs everyday..not to mention Mieles or some commercial vacs.
The very best deals in vacuums are some $5 garage sale finds, but you will spend far more on gas than what you are asking before you will find a NIB green Bison. And if that is the exact vac that floats your boat, and you have the money, well here is your chance.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be negative. I'm just suggesting that your price might be a tad unrealistic, given the very limited market for these machines.

As others have said, it's not about what YOU paid for it. It's about what OTHERS will pay for it. If you can get $700 for it, congratulations and best wishes.
