I met up with some other members of the forum who collect and live near me in Central PA. We had a great time together the last 2 days and did some exchanging and thrifting together.
Unfortunately thrift stores are highly unpredictable and there was only one machine recovered from several stores that we visited. In the back room, which wasn't well closed off, but I probably shouldn't have been back there---hahahhah---- I spotted a Hoover Decade 80. Tan in color with unoriginal bag,and the store associate said it was untested and they'd probably sell it for around $30-35 depending on how it ran. Well I showed her the rusted brush roll and told her I'd give her $10 right now for it. She didn't think twice and seemed quite happy with that, as am I.
When we returned home, I tested it out a bit, with and with out belt and a borrowed from Hoover Estate Convertible agitator. It runs great. Very happy. Will take more pictures once fully cleaned up. For this photo the bag is already soaking in Shout and Wisk in the laundry tub!!
