Beautiful Eureka! I wonder how this 2052 differs from the similar 2042. The famous 2042 was the top-rated upright in Consumer Reports tests in 1973…it was also tagged as a Best Buy for being an affordable top performer.
Maybe the 2052 has a six-position Dial-a-Nap, whereas the 2042 had only four positions? Maybe the 2042 was only one speed whereas the 2052 has a two-speed switch?

Also that's funny it has the label on the belt guard "not for wet pickup" - I've never seen any with that sticker on there.

At some point in Eureka’s history, all upright handles and canister hose handles started to sport a label that warned “Do not use on wet surfaces or outdoors. Electric shock can occur.” Or something like that. There must have been some lawsuit after someone got injured. I guess this bottom plate label was the first attempt at warning people.
I think even Hoovers ended up having a similar warning on their cleaners handles.

That's a stunning example of a classic MOL Eureka from the 1972-75 Fawn Beige & Moss Green line!
The 2052 was succeeded by the 2053 from 1974 to 1975, which was styled and featured the same but equipped with "Edge Kleeners".

Here's an advertisement from a January 1973 DAILY UNION DEMOCRAT that shows the comparisons and contrasts of the models 2052 & 2042:
The 2052 was succeeded by the 2053 from 1974 to 1975, which was styled and featured the same but equipped with "Edge Kleeners".

Thank you for your reply, but that advertisement is really misleading. The photos and the descriptions bear little resemblance to the real 2042 and 2052 models. The only Cordaway models in this line up were the top of the line 2082 and 2092. Not quite sure why the retailer did not know his products.
The only difference I can think of is that the 2052 may have a two-speed motor. The 2042 already had some deluxe features like a 6-position Dial-a-Nap, Vibra-Groomer brush roll, wide bumper and switch on the handle. But it only offered a single speed switch.

Good catch on the newspaper photos being wrong. They likely only had those images on had when the ad was printed and of course nobody would know or care. They never expected them to be saved and archived and meticulously fact-checked so many decades later!
