New Dyson

Over the weekend I decided to pick up the new Dyson DC41 (will post pictures) I am both impressed and unimpressed with the machine all at once. I vacuumed with my DC24 first then the DC41 and it did remove more from the carpet.

Pros
-Powerful
-Large "Floating" Cleaner Head
-Easy to maneuver
-Large dirt bin
-Easy to clean filters
-Quick use hose, no more having to put pieces together

Cons
-Cheaply made, the plastic seems lesser quality then previous models, and seem like certain parts may break (cord hook, and dust bin leaver)
-Hone wand is not long enough, I am 5' 11" and wanted to use the bare floor tool on the want and found myself bending quite a bit, my back actually hurt after a bit
-The hose, I loved the long stretch hose on it but was always fighting to pull it out, Im not sure if it will get better with time or not, it seemed like it was because of the power of the vacuum it kept sucking it in, Also it tends to kink at the top where it meets the wand/tools which became really annoying really quick

Your comments are very interesting. I had just been reading some user reviews on a web site about this Dyson and their were multiple complaints about the very same things. The two things that stood out to me were the comments of cheaper plastic and also the hose always being difficult to work with for attachment use. Many of the people who had written a review were already Dyson owners.
I have been wanting to try this one out. I did notice when they demo it on the home shopping networks they are very careful to either always have someone holding the handle when the attachments are used or they sit the machine against the bottom of a staircase.
I have the older style Dyson upright and I have the DC23. I much prefer the DC23. It has a lot of suction and very well designed Dyson tools but it is too loud,too heavy and the cord and hose are way too short for my use.
It is always exciting to see what new design Dyson will come up with next!
To be fair to Dyson, I have to remember not to compare a plastic $300.00-$500.00 big box store machine with a top lf the line Kirby, Aerus or my Rainbow.
I have not had any issues with the quality of the plastic on my Dysons but I am a collector and do not abuse my machines.
I did notice my DC23 does not seem to leak dirt but it does have that familiar nasty vacuum smell when you first turn it on and I do wonder how all the different sealing points would last in a normal household use situation.
Maybe you can give us an update after you have used it for some time.

The noise level is not too bad it does not bother me

I have the dc41 and dc40 I must say that they are much quieter than other dysons. 


<p>I also have a dc23 that has been through hell , sucked up rubble sawdust everything , I got sick of my shopvac clogging from the concrete dust when chasing the walls so I took a demo dc23 out the showroom and it surpassed my expectations.

How hard was that DC23 to clean out? It looks completely filled with dirt.

thats what it normally looks like, I just empty the bin over a dustbin outside. Its been used like that for 2 years now , I took that photo about a month or so back
