Interesting design...probably inspired by my beloved Swiffer Vac sold here in North America - even the articulating swivel neck is identical!
The concept of combining suction channels with a removable dusting pad is excellent: the vacuum picks up the large surface debris and hairs and dust balls, while the pad removes fine electrostatic dirt and "stuck on" particles.
This concept has been seen in stores before: Filter Queen has a great bare floor tool that features this as does the Shark Professional Rotator Lift Away. And believe it or not, Sanyo had a stick vac about 10 years ago that offered the same bare floor cleaning combination.
Interesting footnote to the history of the Swiffer Vac: it was a Dirt Devil when it first hit the market, but DD had to recall its first run of the unit due to some electrical or battery failure. It had to be redesigned and sold by Swiffer instead!
Dyson indeed is improving the SwifferVac design by adding a second suction channel at the back of the tool so that you pick up on the back stroke as well.
I want one!!!

I have to admit that's a thought that crossed my mind too!
I'm wondering if you could just buy the new head to fit on the exisiting Dyson handhelds or indeed a new Dyson cyclinder with the click fit wand as that would be so much cheaper for me as I have a Dyson Ball cylinder already?
I like the design and it would really help in our nearly entirely hard floor home.

Eurekaprince - spot on observation. The 360 degree swivel on the top and general design is also similar to the E-mop. Also, don't Miele offer a similar suction floor head with an additional attachable swiffer/E-Cloth?

For those of you unfamiliar with the product, below is a link to the Swiffer Sweeper Vac web-page.
Many of you already know that I am a big fan of this product. My elderly mother has used one for many, many years as it is so lightweight and effective. Her cleaning lady empties the bin and vacuums the dust bin's filter every week with Mom's canister vacuum. The pads are very easy to replace.
It is a really smart design - though I would prefer a deluxe model which features a separate battery charger so you could store the vac far from an electric outlet if need be.

Indeed, I mentioned the Shark bare floor tool in my post above. Shark, Filter Queen, Sanyo and Swiffer are all companies who have offered tools that combine a vac's suction with a cloth pad for effectively cleaning bare floors. Would be interesting to see the Miele version mentioned above!

Judging by what I can see on the film clip and website, I can't see any reason why this couldn't be purchased as a spare part and used on any other Dyson with click-fit tools. It uses exactly the same fitting as every other attachment they currently produce.
First thing that crossed my mind was, how much will this cost? It's a Dyson hand vac like any other, only with a glorified Swiffer head on the end. But it has been "engineered", so will probably be well over the £200 mark...

In answer to your question spiraclean about the new head being able to fit other dyson models is no! That's Dyson answer on their official Facebook page as do many have asked the same question over and over again. The reason is on initial testing they found the neck where the wand is fitted to the bin to be weak and break if pressure was applied to the head if the user was trying to remove stubborn dirt on the hard floor. The new dyson hard has been re-engineered where the wand is fitted to the bin to be more stronger. They advise anyone using the new head on one of the existing slims will void the warranty!
What I don't like is the new Dyson hard doesn't come with a head to vacuum carpet! Unless you can buy it separate to fit on but knowing Dyson they will advise you can not! It is just making the user buy more than one machine! You can use the new head without the wipe attached if required! A few people have note why there is no re-usable pads again during testing they found the wipes to be better. They come in 2 types one being a nourishing wood wipe. No price on them but they come in packs of I think 10 or 12! They is no info on how long the machine last on one charge as that's another comment that has been made!
