New but unknown vacuum

Hey guys, I just picked up this vacuum yesterday as it was sitting At the recycling centre for a couple months, I took at home put some Oil Into the bearings of the motor and the bearings of the roller brush and it appears to work fine, although to me this kind of looks a bit similar to a HOOVER 6525[this post was last edited: 11/4/2021-19:43]

It looks like a rebranded Eureka, the brushroll is a Eureka Vibra Groomer I.

Definitely a re-badged Eureka or maybe a Sanitaire. The Dial-A-Nap knob on top is a dead giveaway. Definitely an older one, having the metal chassis. The Fuller name on the manufacturer tag makes me think it might have been sold by the Fuller Brush company although a quick Web search for the HB Fuller Company brought up an industrial adhesives manufacturer.

That's a very good, dead simple machine and replacement parts should be readily available. One thing that tends to wear on them is the little pulley that connects to the belt to the motor.

I had a look and the pulley looks okay

So I don’t really think anything would need replacing at this moment in time

Adam - you are now the proud owner of a Eureka upright vacuum design that has cleaned homes in North America for over 50 years in various iterations and under several different brand names. It’s a very basic fan-first bagged upright that was the direct competitor to the Hoover Convertible for at least 3 decades - from about 1955 to 1985.

The helix shaped Vibra Groomer brush roll made its debut in the early 1970’s when Hoover’s patent on its beater bar brush roll ran out and Eureka was free to introduce hard beaters on its brush rolls.

How a 240-volt version came to be made by Eureka for Fuller or MultiClean in Minnesota for dealers in Australia is a real mystery to me!!! The only other Australia connection Eureka had was a Roto-Matic tub vacuum branded with the Pye name and a ubiquitous vintage photo of Eureka upright vacuums being sold in Perth.

Looks like it was labeled for Multi-Clean products which at the time was owned by HB Fuller Company, an adhesives manufacturer as mentioned in an earlier reply. Looks like they primarily sell cleaning chemicals now. https://multi-clean.com/about/

Did you guys get Eureka in Australia? Definitely a Eureka/Sanitaire design like others said, I see it is labeled for 240v for you all down under.

Fuller Brush back in the 50's and 60's sold brushes and cleaning products door to door. Just a little history on Fuller if anyone cares.

Although I’ve got a question,

I wonder if this vacuum would be compatible with the dust cup kind of bags

It would probably work with the Hoover bagless version, if you swap out the connectors. They do not have good filtration however.

Fuller Brush and HB Fuller Company are two different companies, HB Fuller Company is an adhesives company.

Hi Adam, you would probably need to order a Sanitaire dust cup conversion kit. Best to take a picture of the dirt port at the back of the motor base and send it with any inquiries to Sanitaire in the USA. Sanitaire is now owned by Bissell in the USA. This way, the customer service person would be certain as to which conversion kit would be compatible with your Eureka…

Another conversion option is an F&G bag conversion. I did this to one of my Sanitaires. The kit, which included a new outer bag and a dozen F&G bags for around $25USD, was a direct replacement for the original dump bag and required no tools to install. It was literally about a two-minute job to swap the outer bags and install a paper F&G bag.
