Hey guys....came home from work today to find my weekly flyer from our Canadian Tire chain of stores. To my surprise, I found them selling the first Electrolux canister I have ever seen at this chain. It's a white and hot pink power nozzle version of Volta's CycloneXL sold in Europe (Volta is an Electrolux company). They are calling this CycloneXL the Versatility Canister here on this side of the ocean.

It seems to only be available in Canada - see the link below to the Canadian Electrolux website.

While I'm on the topic of Electrolux in Canada - I am sooooo disappointed that they have discontinued sales of the Oxygen3 Upright here!!!! This is such a cool and beautifully-designed vac.....and was very highly rated for carpet cleaning and "ease of use" in Consumer Reports when it was first introduced on the market a few years ago. For some strange reason, it is no longer listed in Consumer Reports ratings for uprights, and it is no longer shown on the Canadian website. It used to be available at Sears Canada - but I no longer see it in the stores. It is still being shown on the US website though. Has this upright been discontinued? Why - what problems were users having with it? Anyone know?

Oxygen-Lux uprights-have seen these frequently in the vac service places-rear wheels break easily-and the electronics fail-the board in the machine has to be replaced-the machines are VERY difficult to work on-usually the service place will try to give the customer a voucher for a replacement machine-or send it to a Lux servicecenter for repairs-these are a B@##$%^& to work on-been over the shoulders of techs and assisted in some repairs-STAY WAY-they are kinda cool looking machines though-and work well when they want to.Don't know if they are still being built-Lowes out here used to sell them.

canister looks like the bagless eureka sold here in blue, with a cheaper powernozzel though. like the look of the black silencer.

I agree !

Disappointed to hear that the Oxygen 3 is gone. Kept hoping
that would be around. AS it looked like a great useable machine. Then if it has a high rate of repair and cost, not
for me !!

Thanks Joe....

You are correct! So this is the third version of the same basic machine, give or take a power nozzle: Volta CycloneXL, Electrolux Versatility, Eureka Whirlwind. Wonder if there are other versions for other Electrolux brandnames like AEG or Progress in Germany......

It's amazing how you can now get the same vacuum almost anywhere in the world - especially in the case of the Electrolux Oxygen canister and all the Dysons.

Back in the 90's (when Eureka had the Oxygen line in the racy looking colors), this machine was probably one of the best canister setups I ever owned. Those machines had filtration that didn't leak, the power nozzle had a VGII and the only electronics involved were the speed control on top of the machine. They were expensive, though. I guess they did away with these when they realized the retail price was more than what consumers are willing to pay for a Eureka. Seemed like they went away overnight, only to come back branded as an Electrolux and attached to a really cheap power nozzle with plastic wands.
