Great ideas all of you guys, even the tongue in cheek ones! Thanks for the input. May just gift one of my finds, as long as I never have to see it again!Pretty sure the oldest grandson bats for our team, would think he could vacuum!

Go for a good used Filter Queen.

They are very durable, and clean well,. My aunt had a two level, 5 bdroom home with 5 kids. She had a Filter Queen with the pn, It was her only vacuum, and was very well used daily and also rolled down the spiral staircase several times and kept on going. She had that Filter Queen for 20 years.

Something like this would be ideal... we sold these at Sears back in 02 for 99 dollars and they were discontinued shortly after that, but they have been around for years in various colors. Classic Panasonic design. Of course we tried to get people to upgrade to the Progressive line for 50 dollars more, because we only made like 50 cents on the Whisptertone (they had Whipsertone and Progressive lines in canisters and uprights).... I got this picture from my local Craig's List.... they only want 25 dollars for it, which is all a used one is worth considering the price when it was new. Cleaning ladies liked them because of the metal handle... I never liked them because the hose was incredibly short and you had to reach for the power switch, but it did the job.

I have 2 friends with that same machine, I told them to take care of it, great workhorse for the money.Simple, easy, quiet. Reminds me of my mc 6255?? I think.
