Love the fact that the Excalibur allowed you to shut off the separate brushroll motor with a switch on the upper part of the body. Another neat feature: a Eureka version of Kenmore's "Quickdraw" attachment hose. In carpet mode, the suction went directly from the bag chamber to the brushroll cavity without meandering through the on-board hose. When you removed the hose handle for above the floor cleaning, the suction was automatically diverted away from the floor and up the hose, while automatically shutting off the brush roll.
This was Eureka's first and only upright to store ALL attachments including the bare floor brush. It offered a full set of "World Vac" style full-size attachments including a separate dusting brush and upholstery nozzle.
The Excalibur never did very well in Consumer Reports tests. And it seemed to have a lot of electrical burnout problems at the multimode switch - may have had to do with overloading the system with a 12 amp suction motor added to a separate brush roll motor.
But I love 2-motor uprights - the only safe way to offer bare floor cleaning and above the floor cleaning without convoluted clutch systems or double belt systems!
