Need some help.

Hi everyone, so a few months ago I asked about a bagless hoover max and the responses I got seemed pretty good so I got one and had it for all of 10 days before it started to malfunction where the brush roll shut off wouldn't work for more than 30 seconds and the brush would re-engage so I took that one back, before that I had a eureka ultra thats plastic mesh shroud ripped after 5 days of use so now I have my eyes on one of 3 models from bissell, a bagless powerforce turbo, a powerlifter, most likely the pet as opposed to the rewind or the powerglide. I know that a powerforce is single cyclonic and will need more maintenance but the one thing I'd like to know is which one has the best balance of agitation without being overly aggressive, I liked the way the powerglide agitated in one of rodgers (ibaisaic) videos but is it too much that it will start to rip up the carpet? My mom and dad are getting new carpet soon and I want the vacuum that I get, not ruin the carpet. this will not be a main vac but one for my collection. Thanks for all the info!

Well I am sorry mate that no one has bothered to reply to your thread so I'll do my best.

I had a powerglide a few months ago. Agitation was incredible and it seemed pretty durable, although there were some flaws. The swivel steering is very limited, but of course better than no steering at all. The agitation is indeed excellent, like genuinely brilliant. The telescopic height adjustment only differs around 4 inches from shortest to longest, but the main problem is probably the poor dust cup seal. Dust and dirt can wheep out from it into the air.

However, all in all the powerglide is an excellent machine, and bissells are good products. They are excellent value for money. Find one for a good deal and I would say go for it.

The Powerforce Turbo has a lot of suction and a very aggressive brushroll. However the filter does clog quickly. My grandfather has one and he loves it. He said it it the best vacuum he's owned. As for the other two, I don't have a clue to how they are. I think the only way they would rip up the carpet would be if there was a snag that it gets a hold of. I had a Shark Cordless Sweeper rip up part of the carpet in my sisters bedroom because it got a hold of a snag in the carpet.

I was just at Walmart, like always I had to go to the vacuum section to see what they have in stock. The Powerforce Turbo is on sale for $59 And the Powerlifter is on sale for $89

Yes. They sent me a DC65. They had me take the DC40 to the UPS store and two days later the DC65 was siting on my front porch when I woke up! It is the best! So much better than the DC40!

Thanks for all the replys guys I think my local walmart no longer carries the power glide but my local big lots had some overstocked nib blue models that I learned was the walmart version so I might try to get one. Wiping off the side of a vacuum seems easier than tapping and washing a filter so that isn't that big of a flaw in my mind but a good point to bring up to some. If anyone has any info on a powerlifter it would be appreciated.

The only thing I know about it is that it has 3 types of brushes on it roller. Two of them are designed to "safely and gently clean hard floors and carpets", similar to the carbon fiber brushes on the Dyson DC50 and the Digital Slims. And it does have some stiffer brushes for deep cleaning.

How does the vacuum prevent the stiffer bristles from scratching a bare floor? Are they shorter than the bare floor bristle rows?

I would think so,this is from bissell.com "On carpet, the different bristle lengths work together to go deeper into carpet fibers, lifting and removing embedded dirt and pet hair. The long, silk-like bristles gently remove fine debris on hard flooring." What I wrote earlier was on their website when they first came out last year.
