need help with Miracle Mate Bags

My wife and I come home from taking our Nephew out for some birthday fun and there on the doorstep was a pretty big box....In it was my new (to me) Miracle Mate vacuum, and I completely forgot to order some bags so I could take it out for a test run.
I have seen people advertise that the bags used in a TriStar would work...Is this true? and what bags should I buy, The ones for the CXL and DXL or the bags for TriStars newer vacuums?

I have also read that some people buy a few MM bags, cut the tops off them, and put them on TriStar bags. Does this work well?
Last question....Can you use the TriStar bags just as they are or does the MM need to have that top piece to help it seal or for some other reason?

Tristar bags will work just fine. They just slip into the cloth bag. The original Miracle Mate bags hold less debris and are completely covered/sealed on top. They a little difficult to find. But again, the Tristar bags will work fine.

I'm a Miracle Mate distributor I have a website where you buy bags and parts for your Miracle Mate. And you can cut the top off and use tristar bags, they are not as dust free but will do the job. If you don't keep the top part the lid won't seal and you lose some power. So its best to use MM bags but they are a little pricey. Just make sure to keep the top part if you decide to go with the tristar bags. I sell some on my site I tell people thats the best way to go for Patriot vacuums. Hope this helps.

Love my miracle mate!!!!!

I found one at goodwill,and with a electrolux PN6 does a great job. I had to fix the electric hose the wire broke in the wand and the original power nozzle was cracked beyond repair,but still a great deal for $10.00. I use 738EC envirocare mico filtration bags with a top cut from a miracle mate bag and it works fine.
I am thinking of constructing some bag tops out of heavy poster board and latex membrane to keep for future use easy to do with a compass and ruler latex gloves for the center seal.

Thank you for the information....I have also heard (read) that the MM bags get clogged (I guess that is the best way to say it) and that the Tristar bags "breath" or allow more air through so they are better when dealing with lots of fine dust. Any thoughts or comments on this?

Also, We have cats and dogs....So would this be in the fine dust category? Anyone here use MM or TriStar bags with pets in the house and if so how do they hold up?

You heard correctly, DKA-65....

I have had the same experience you have heard of with the Miracle Mate bags, that they clog prematurely. I don't have this problem when using Tristar bags with a bag top from a Miracle Mate bag. And yes, you will need the top from a Miracle Mate bag to form a proper seal, as others have said.

If you are worried about the Tristar bags letting more dust through, then just buy the Tristar microfiltration bags, and not the plain paper ones. If you have dogs or cats & are picking up lots of hair, the bags should last a little bit longer, as it's the fine dust & sand that causes the bags to clog & dust to stick to the sides of the bag.

I have a dog and a cat who shed like crazy and I use MM bags, have not noticed a cloging problem. The only thing I have noticed with tristar bags is that they leak more dust on the cloth bag and the motor filter gets dirtier faster. Try both ways, I'm sure everyone notices something different. Rob is right do use the mico filter ones, much better.

Also, is there a difference between the EnviroPure, MM or TriStar genuine, these generic bags that come in the green and white packages that I see a lot of?

The Envirocare bags have a micro lining. I think they do a good job. Although, the area directly in front of the vacuum motor will get blasted with sand and grit and wear through the micro lining. I've heard of people putting a piece of cardboard there and securing it between the lid and bag chamber in order to avoid that problem. I also use the genuine Tristar bags. It doesn't have a lining and it lets more dust to leak through. You can tell by looking at the cloth bag. I haven't used the brand in the link you posted.
