New to old vacs, be gentle...I found a Kirby 512 in someone's trash a while back. Replaced brush roll, belts and bulb and it runs great. It needs a fan though, some broken blades. The local vac shop gave me a one piece metal one, but it sits flat, my original has a bushing (?) That sticks off the back. I returned it and he gave me a 3 piece plastic fan, but when I tighten it, the bushing broke, maybe I had it installed improperly... I did the best I could figure to install it but when I tighten the belt spindle onto the motor shaft the motor won't turn.

Where do I get the proper part? Do one of yinz have one I can buy for a few bucks?

Pic of the broken bushing? I have a one piece metal fan I can sell you that has the bushing, in fact they all should.

The original has a piece that projects off rhe back side, the new metal one was flush on the back. The plastic one was also flush, but came with a separate bushing with a flat washer pressed onto it. The wash popped off, perhaps I incorrectly installed it, or it was defective. I can post pics tomorrow

How much do you want for the correct, original fan? Also, I don't have a skid plate on the bottom of the vac, have you one of these? Is it needed?

Yeah I have both parts. $15 for both, the fan is obviously used and is slightly bent(no cracks or anything). It came out of I believe a 505, so it will work in that as long as the bearing plate is in correctly and the broken washer is removed.

Here is what I'm working with, and pardon idk the correct nomenclature... the white one sits flat, and the washer was connected to the bushing but popped off when I tightened it into place.

The original has it connected, it protrudes from the back.

I just remembered, I don't have the rug plate. I forgot the earlier Kirbys had a smaller one.
That fan isn't original to that, it is original to a 515 as it has 10 blades instead of 6. The belt pulley on that fan has seen some better days anyway.

$10 for the fan, send me an email at [email protected] if you want it.

Kirby 512 value

The value or worth can depend on a number of things like condition, and original parts. I just sold one for $485.00 with original trim, wheels, fan, and handle grip with a Belden cord. Its ID tag was also in great condition. Having said that auctions can be a bit of a crapshoot. Like any collectable if you had all original parts and bag the value can go higher.
