Found today on a NZ trading site this National Jetflo Upright in great order! I remember these machines in the 80's when in my teens along with the Hitachi CV50D. Curious of others opinions on the National uprights. Think I might bid on it, i'm sure i'll find room for this baby somewhere!!! cheers mike

Hmm...

Looks like a panasonic to me they produced a series of Jet-flo vacuums. I used to have a three speed jet-flo, they are a very good vacuum IMO they have good agitation, great airflow for a bypass machine, and runs pretty quiet.

The National IS a Panasonic. Your National is our second version of Jet Flo uprights in the U.S. Too bad Hepa bags were not available at the time those Jet Flo machines were new. The original one-ply Panasonic bags leaked like a sieve. Most of those old Jet Flo's suffer from dry bearings due to the dust leakage. Excellent vacuum though, Riccar copied the design of putting the rear wheels on the dust compartment as opposed to the nozzle frame (as Simplicity does).

I've got numerous of them. I just like them for whatever reason, even though they're not the greatest vacuum but they do a good job on low/med carpet, they're relatively quiet and certainly easy to use.

I found one in very poor condition, It needs a base plate and brush roll. I remember their was a sample one at Electrolux in their Vault. It was a very nice machine

Tom, I believe the National he has is the same type as my blue commercial Panasonic. Here it is... It had been used all of its life with the cloth dump out bag, the bearings in the motor were shot, as were the ones in the brushroll. I replaced them and thoroughly washed the whole thing and now use HEPA bags in it. I think it came out great.

National Jetflo Silent Power MC-663

hi all

Picked up my new national mc-663 today, all in all very good condition just a few scratches and a little dust. Here are a few pics after a light clean and buff.

Cheers

Mike

The shape of that dusting brush in the tool kit looks identical to the brushes sold by Sunbeam in the 60's and 70's! Love this white version - Sunbeam had green ones and blue ones!

Does anyone know the model # of the Panasonic Jet-Flow 3-speed pic that Blackheart posted above? I'm on the lookout for a MC-663, but this version seems to have a clutch for bare floors and a bag indicator, so I'm trying to determine when it was built. I'd like to buy a very early Jet-Flow to go alongside my brand new Symmetry Ultra Premium, which will give me a vintage collection of 1.
