Hoover Mach 4, sold at Boscovs for $150 about 5 or 6 years ago. My Great-Aunt had one and she didn't like it. She said it was a pain to empty and it loss suction quickly.

That model is a Hoover Fusion. First sold at Wal-Mart for $100 about 8 years ago. Foam filters only, terrible filtration. Shroud was incorrectly designed, allowing large quantities of fluff and lint to penetrate through. Communist Reports did a story on them, showing the belching dust triumphantly escaping the cleaner while running.

I'd offer them $40 for the both of them, I see they lowered the price a few thousand $. Now they are asking $60. I had a slightly older Hoover Fusion and really couldn't fault it- never experienced any real loss of suction and did a great job. Too bad it got stolen from my church. Probably the issue with them overheating is just either a clogged hose or clogged filters- they each have two filters, one located in the body of the vacuum above the dirt bin, the other below the dirt bin in a slide out tray. Mine did have pretty poor filtration though.
