Hopefully, you can help me. In 1976 or 1977 I purchased a Royal upright with tools. The bag on the vac was a denim, or denim looking, material. Great vac, got lots of use and the buyers of the home insisted that the vac go with the home. Been trying to remember the model number so I can find another someday.

Here's mine on youtube

Yes, that's the one, Pete. I believe yours is a model 9700, from 1992 I believe. I have a 1993 Royal Preferred Collection upright, model 6103.

As to the one being asked about by veroroger (1976-77), that one was probably an 801.

The video link to the 801 is provided.

answers, etc....

The home buyers rented for a year before buying and I loaned the Royal to them when they wanted to clean the carpets. They loved it and made it a part of the deal. Needed to sell that home and THAT was more important than the vac. Anyway, I thought I could get another. Found out differently.

Yes, Pete, it looked like yours and the one I currently have is basically the same as yours. But.... the one I had in the 70's had a blue denim or denim look bag which I thought was sharp.

Always thought that the Royal was the match for Kirby and had it beat for weight. Kirby was easier for attachment use, tho. However, the one I had in the 70's was substantially quieter than the one I now have. Substantially quieter!
