I rec'd an email from a fellow collector named Al Grubb in Angola, IN. He said:

Regarding the aqua "L" looking thing w/ your L's, that was used in the demo of a CA,CB, the demo bag was used in there, hence not making the CA bag or the cloth filter of the CB dirty. I used to sell Luxes many yrs ago..but just wanted to say what that thing was for.

I replied to him,

Hi Al, well thanks for finally solving the mystery for me!! Really appreciate that!

I do wonder just how effective this demo unit could be - the chamber is too short to allow a full-size cloth bag to expand into it which would mean the end would be all bunched up against the back wall of the bag chamber. And there are only air holes in the back wall instead of all around the bag chamber (shades of things to come, sigh) so it would seem the suction would be greatly impeded.

CA & CB

The CA and CB were the commericail models of the Electrolux line. Correct me if I am wrong, those of you with more knowledge then myself, the CA was the first model, square in shape using a large Electrolux bag, the CB was a round model using a cloth filter with a paper filter covering the cloth filter. Almost looking like a shop vac.

I used a CB for many years to clean the bank that I worked at for 20+ years. They replaced the vacuum when I left with a Panasonic Commericail Upright.

The following post appeared in the original thread ("A question for Miss Hamilton"):

Greetings, CRL!

I have an oddly short Electrolux cloth bag (factory) that I have always thought came from one such chamber, especially after seeing yours (your chamber!)

AKA Bent

Ahhhhhhhh

I see! (said the blind man, to his deaf daughter, as he picked up his hammer and saw.)

[my mom used to say "I See!" a lot and whenever she'd say it, my dad would chime in with the rest -haha!)

Anyway, I missed "Bent's" comment about the short bag. I wonder what I would have to do to get him to give up that bag!!!

Pictures of CA & CB For Ken

Hi, Ken--Here's some pictures of an Electrolux CA and a CB which I have in my collection. Feel Free to contact me, I may have an extra Beige Model L.

Thanks!

Thanks for the pics! I do remember seeing the CB but the CA rules! Had a chance to buy one on Ebay but was out of town for the kill.

I just love turquoise appliances.

My Cat

Hi, Lee--That's Harley, He's quite the buddy! I have nicknamed him "Motorcycle Cat" because of his name, Wow, it must be a big job taking care of 43 cats! Cats are a lot of fun, and Harley is no exception. It seems like he likes to hang around the vacuum cleaners! I've actually used a vacuum on him, one of my Old Electrolux's, with the dusting brush. He tries to play with it and paw at it. Harley sounds like a Harley when he purrrrs! He's like I say, quite the buddy, and 100% spoiled rotten! If I could just teach him to KILL mice instead of just playing with them?!?!?. . . .
