so I bought a Eureka bagless upright at walmart. It seemed to work ok, but my house was trashed when she left, or maybe I didn't remove the long hair it picked up because after only a 1/2 dozen uses, the belt melted and broke. I replaced the belt to find the entire motor had come lose allowing it to tip and the belt to come off. Maybe I should have fixed it, but I threw it in the back of my truck today. Hard.

I am the type who likes quality and serviceability, but I will admit I'm not always the best when it comes to preventative maintenance, with vacuums. I live alone and always take my shoes off, so its mainly dust I'm after and I also have a hard wood floor in my TV room.

So I'm looking for recommendations for a replacement and maybe some tips to keep it running well. My buddy told me he likes his sharks, but seems there's a love hate thing around here regarding it. I don't care for throw away plastic vacuums like the Eureka I had, unless they last and you can get parts for them.

Thanks!

Hmm

Go to the nearest thrift store. Look for older heavy vacuums from Hoover, eureka etc. Try out the vacuums and see what fits you best.
If you broke a plasti vac you will break a shark.
If you find a Hoover eureka or sanitairre buy it. I found a Kirby classic 3 for $12 today at my thrift store. It runs excellent. I'd go this route as you can see what you like and don't like. It's also going to save you some money.

Sheesh

If your spending money buy a Kirby avalir 1 with shampooer set up. You could get a good one for $300. If you are going for a rainbow get the black version it's very nice.

Yes

That's what you want.
Here is the picture of the one I sold a few months ago. Led light and it's so quiet. The led light looks awesome.

Good Deals

There should be all kinds of good deals in your local marketplace. In the last three weeks I bought the following here in Edmonton and these prices are Canadian dollars. These prices included people delivering them to me.

1. Tristar EXL, excellent condition, all the tools, 50 Cdn
2. Kirby Ultimate G, all the tools very good condition, 40 Cdn
3. Miele S251i, with powerhead, very good condition, 20 Cdn.

So keep looking, the deals are out there.
