So I managed to get my hands on these two 110v vacuums, They were brought here by people immigrating from the USA to SouthAfrica.

The Eureka vacuum motor runs fine but some idiot plugged it into the 220v outlet which killed the circuit board that runs the 120v DC brush motor. Luckily this Motor is a Johnson motor and is available in many other appliances so I plan on getting a 220v circuit board and motor and a vac motor and convert it to 220v. Its a nice nippy machine to use.

The dirt devil runs ok but needs a clean up , more pics to follow when I am done cleaning them. neither of these units were available in SA

Thank you , It looks like it has a lamb motor in it belts had it and the bearing in the motor need replacement.

Its actually bright red but the Green clear roof in the carport makes everything red look burgundy.

I have one of those Eurekas, and it had great suction, and cleaned very well until the back wheels fell off. Luckily it looks like yours are fine.

Those dirt devils used gs electric motors. They were great motors however the bearings seemed to problematic after a length of time. In my opinion though these dirt devils seemed to be pretty good at deep cleaning and the motor usually had a pretty good lifespan

Yes I took out the motor and its a gs ( never heard of them but its just about a copycat of a lamb motor. The suction is incredible its going to be fun getting some bags though. will see what I can find locally to fit it. Its busy getting bathed at the moment

I think a lot of people who are into collecting Dirt Devils like that model... I once lived with a lady that had one and it cleaned circles around her bagless non-self propelled WindTunnel, which was awful (it clogged in about 3 seconds flat and something was wrong with the suction diverter because the hose never had any suction)... she gave the Dirt Devil away to someone who was just getting their first place and needed a vacuum, and I wished she'd givent he Hoover away instead and kept the Dirt Devil. A few years later, she bought a Eureka Optima just like the one you have pictured because she thought it would be easier to push... it was lighter, and worked well at first, but because of the paper pleated filter, clogged very quickly. It also felt flimsy and the hose was much too short... but they were cool looking and I well remember when they first came out. The round hanbdle is not nearly as comfortable as one might assume by looking at it...

I've seen that Dirt Devil used, but the handle is always broken and so is the handle release... and attachment clips and cord wraps!
