Let me cut to the chase, Hoover is a brand that I’ll have a soft spot for. Why? Some of their models have withstood the test of time even. The Convertible, for example, is now the Guardsman with the same motor from the 80’s! Hoover doesn’t seem to really change their models as much as they do recycle their own designs and make changes between major and minor before being (re)released. Maybe Hoover seems to take pride in them . Eventually, a few years back, the elite was discontinued as well as the decade style guardsman. Why? They probably were not very popular, too costly to make, or no longer practical. Yes they are missed, but as time changes, we may have to learn to accept it. Hoover could use some improvement in their models, though. ssembled in the USA is a big step in the right direction, but for the models themselves, their mileage may vary. On another note, Hoover seems to be one of the few vacuum companies that make machines that will work on shag carpet. So maybe instead of trying to improve something already very bad like Dyson, Hoover seems to weigh models based on if they’ve withstood the test of time, or if they’ve come so far and are no longer meant to be. To me, overall, Hoover is at the borderline between a brand and a household name.
