I stopped at a yardsale today and I can't believe I got this for only $20. I was shocked when the owner told me the price. It looks like new and runs great. I just need to clean it up a bit. Apparently the man's wife hated this vacuum and really wanted to just get rid of it.

Logan,

What a great find. I have two Rainbows in my collection and love them both. Truth be told though, I don't use either one. They are for me are actually worse than a bagless vacuum. After your done, what do you do with the water. It is not good, regardless what the salesmen tells you, to flush that water down any of your drains. The sand and hair will clog eventually. New homes with plastic pipes stand a better chance than older homes with older metal drain pipes.

I can understand the ladies frustration. In this case, it was good for you.

Interesting vac but novelty wears off

not a daily driver
can't just do a quick pick me up
& then go thru the wash out & drying process
but I like mine for special occassions

$20 is a steal
I'd of got it too
just 4 the heck of it
thats a later e series
heard its LOud

anyway nice new toy for the price

The E Series is no louder than a D4. Some may disagree, but I can't tell the difference.

Really SUPER yard sale find--All I have found out here at yard sales is just broken baby toys and furniture and old clothes-nothing really good. The junk offered at yard sales out here ought to be "food" for the trash trucks on the "classic Refuse Trucks" website. The week before last I did find a nice Red-Grey bagged Royal hand vac-works well-cleaned out my car with it.Only find so far.I don't know what it is around here-no cool vacuums or appliances at yard sales anymore. And things like Hi-Fi consoles and really vintage appliances(such as washers) are IMPOSSIBLE to find here.

Congrats Logan. I know you will enjoy it. Yesterday I went to a yardsale and gota electrolux trug washer and the white bristles for the floors. I asked them if they still had the machine but they said they sold it but they told me the motor was bad. So I asked tehm how much for the rug washer and I was told to take it. So i got it for free. But down here you cant find a good deal very often. But you do sometimes.

$20.00? Can't beat that! I'd rather see giveaway prices than throwaway mentality. Our Mustard Seed south of me has an elderly lady who has the attendants toss a lot of things. I saw a nice weedwacker go, but it was "dirty". OK, there are things I wouldn't want, regardless of the price. But yard things?

Alan I wish I was there when they threw out that weedwacker. I need a new one for my yard. :-)

thats sweet

an electrolux and a rainbow in one week. All I found yesterday was a hoover elite. Had all the attachments I did not buy it yet as my partner was with me and if I bring them in the house he will not notice if he does not see it come in. To him they all look the same lol.

The weedwacker may possibly not have worked, but that lady is so anal retentive about something with a little rust or a smudge. My first wacker was a cast off from my brother, we asked him specificly to give us an old one, 'cause there isn't any real space here for good garden equipment.

WOW - I think I just fell in love with Rainbow again. I just used my E2 model on my whole house and was thoroughly impressed at how much better it cleans than it's older cousin. For example, I have a D4 SE that has been sitting in my basement for god knows how many years. I quit using it because of it's lack of suction and messy clean up. Truth be told, I don't mind the messy clean up as long as the vacuum compensates for it in the cleaning department. I always felt my D4 SE just didn't cut the mustard compared to other high end vacuums.

Now that I have the E2 I was blown away by how much more suction it has over the D4. Granted, it does run a little louder but that doesn't bother me. The improved power nozzle is much more user friendly than the LONG rectangular shaped one on the D4. The improved brush roll design also grooms my carpets better.

Anyways, that's just my two cents. I fell in love with Rainbow again. I had forgotten how clean a house feels after it has been vacuumed with a Rainbow. LOL

your d4 might not be up to snuff
my d3c will suck the pants off ya
just saying its' very powerful
maybe I just got a good motor
& maybe ole humpty dumpty likes me

LOL

great yard sale find!

like tolivac's area the yard sales around me are nothing but baby clothes, although i got a G-six 2001 in great shape, complete with everything including the big box and the manual for $15 at a yard sale, so i cant complain! you should always check the yard sales, you never know!

Well she cleaned up nicely. It never surprises my how nasty Rainbows can be when you take them apart. Eew!

P.S. Notice how we painted our walls a different color? We got rid of that garrish orange and replaced it with a calm brown from the Martha Stewart collection at Lowes. I don't know what we ever thinking with that orange. :-)
