I would say...
That hands down --
The Dimension 1000 is the best canister vacuum that Hoover ever produced. The TOL Celebrities are a very close second.
I love mine!

Which means it was made at the Hoover plant in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Dimension is an excellent vac, and, if my memory serves me right, was very highly rated (along with the competing Eureka Express) by Consumer Reports at the time.
I like the "boxy" no-nonsense shape of the canister, which I think houses a pretty decent size bag. I love the fact that Eureka and Hoover canisters of that era (1980's) all were able to store 4 full attachments on-board - including Hoover's very efficient floor brush.
Would be great if you would be able to post a Youtube video so that we can see this gem in action.....

What a treasure, and you have it looking brand new too! Just be careful with the power nozzle... they clean great, but are fragile. Don't slam it into anything! They are hard to come by too! I waited for YEARS go get a replacement for the one for my Celebrity when the brittle plastic on the base plate broke off for apparently no reason at all. Thanks to our vigilant Fred (Hoovercelebrity) for pointing it out to me on the 'Bay I was able to finally replace it.

Thanks for all the wonderfull comments. I really like the hummm of the motor..very distinct.I also like the controls all on the handle. This Hoover has the strongest suction of any other Hoover canister that I have experienced.A very solid machine.

nice find, i have never owned a hoover dimension myself but have heard they are nice little canister, i hear that for they're size and price range[back when they were new], they had excellent performance, and if maintained pretty well, they will last for about 10+ years of service, without any real issues. i would like to try and find one in Kentucky when i go up there for my road trip sometime this summer, and i am researching some good thrift stores and flee markets. happy collecting and enjoy that great machine.
