So yes I did get a vacuum finally.

It is a Rainbow D4c. with aquamate. And a DC3 PN. Oh well- he had an eureka one with it, so I took the D3 one instead.

I will have pictures after I am done messing with it.

I am

THRILLED WITH IT!!!! It is the best vacuum I have ever used. And its fun to see the dirty water. at least you know the vacuum is working.

NOW someone help- what is the little removable cap on the back for?

(my baby ((well not really shes big)) Java, our choco lab *best dog in the world* is taking a look at the chocolate colored rainbow.)

1986 is its manufacture date. I thought it was a SE at first. Oh well, I love it.

The removable cap is your blower port. Take it off to attach the hose to use as a blower. Put in on to defuse the air and quiet the machine down.

I have

2 extra hoses as well. one is a dark brown, and one is a yellowie color.

And what should the tools look like? The ones on it are metal brown trim on the brushes and what not. But the duster tool is black with an old style rainbow logo, but looks like a new e series one.

oh

and this is a 50th anniversary machine.

I have never seen a D4 with the 50th anniversary label on it. It says 1986 on the separator, and under the motor- and on the top.

MY dad was completely sold on Rainbows. He actually bought one new from me when I was selling them part time. Back in
the 70's. Good ole Chrome Domes, as we called them.
No power nozzles back in those days !
I just picked up a late 50's or early 60's one for free
from a Craig's list adv.

4 Quart basin

Brandon. Unless you have a lot of pets, on Ebay get the 4 quart basin. Fun to watch and less to empty....Happy Rainbowing!!!!....Bill in Az....

beater bar

it has some good large beaters on it. the bristles are a little weak. Not as bad as the ol' vax.

now it gets weird

These tools are from a chrome dome model. XD they are heavy duty tho.

(and they could use some steel wool and polish.

they are fun- and for just a little more work- you have a very good and VERY QUIET vacuum.

This is the label that i have never seen on any other D4c model. this is a 50th anniversary rainbow! 1936- 1986!
