yes though its motor dose sound very strange, it sounds like a turbopower but slightly slower and quieter and has a very peculiar smell

Well done Michael! It looks awesome!
About the noise and smell, could it be the fan not on properly? I have never taken one apart before so could be completely wrong.
It looks great anyway!

thanks jakesvacs and i have no clue either, I dont think it will be the fan as i have taken fans off and put them back on before and this one went on fine

i made a video of it if anyone could help me

I was going to comment on the video but for some reason...

You blocked me! So I will post it here...
I think the fan might be screwed on to tight if it causeing a buring smell and the slight squeeking noise, but it doesn't sound to bad, try loosening the fan VERY slightly.

That is because it is an 80's one, it is only 400 watts not 450 watts like the 90's ones you are used too. The 80's Turbo's sound much lower in pitch.

okay you tube must have screwed up because i haven't blocked you, Anyway i think you may be rite i also think the bearings aren't helping the situation

as you can see it fits in nicely with a few of my other turbopowers

Yes, I always preferred the Junior over the hardbox models too. A lot less body weight being supported by the trunnion, which IMHO made it feel slightly more durable in the longer term. Plus it was lighter to use (obviously), better balanced and had at least some filtration after the paper bag.

Great restoration job by the way, there's nothing more satisfying than taking a grubby vac and making it look brand new once again. TPs do get rather dusty inside and out after several years' use, but one of the things I like most about them is that they're so simple to work on. There's really not much that can't be put right, and you can very easily end up with a good result like this. Being a solid performer helps too, in that they're worth spending time on in the first place.

Congrats and enjoy your new addition!
