Hi everyone,

I've just got a new vacuum, and I thought I would share some photo's with you guys, it's a 1970's Hoover Senior 6525E! I got it from Andy (Andy-lux) and he game me a spare belt and a couple of bags with it, so if you are reading this Andy, thank you so much! It's a great vacuum and my favorite in my collection!

Here's the picture's :)

Nice senior, you need to retro- brite the base to bring it back otherwise it should come up nicely.

Joe, yes, I'm sure. I gave it to Andy. It was given to me by a colleague of my sister who had owned it since new. He was a HEAVY smoker, hence the yellowing on the hood.

I gave it to Andy because I never really liked the seniors that much - I always preferred the juniors - and I knew he would appreciate it more than I did

Oh right. That's good, it's only had 3 previous owners, and I know that you and Andy will have looked after it. Infact, he fitted new carbon brushes before he gave it to me :)

It makes sense now, since Andy was telling me how it was yellowed by the owner who was a heavy smoker, so I thought when you said it used to be yours, I didn't think you were a heavy smoker Chris lol.

I think you will find that it has a metal fan - Seniors of this era were very good quality, and really built to last. In those days, a Senior like that would have been VERY expensive to buy. The Ranger that followed it also had a metal fan. Juniors of that era up until the 1980s also had metal fans.
Hoovers of old were excellent build quality. That only started to change in the early to mid 80's with the introduction of the plastivacs ranges as Hoover got the greedy bug and started cost cutting to maximise profits for the directors and shareholders. The 70's was the last decade of quality for most manufacturers, after then, we moved into the build it cheap throw away society that we are sadly still in now, where greed and profiteering rule the day, not good quality long lasting goods like back then.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm really happy with it, the best Hoover I've ever used!

It is a shame now that everything gets thrown away rather than repaired. Back then a Hoover like this would have been quite a big investment, and if it did go wrong you would probably of had it repaired.

Also, I recently found out my Grandma had a 1940/50's Hoover Junior! It lasted until the 1980's too! I wish she would have kept it when it did give up.
