don't get me wrong

I'd totally LOVE to have one of these because Rainbows rock. I was jealous of the Black model and now I'm jealous of this model. But I used my gold today and the way they make your house smell after you're done can't be beat. I can't explain it: It's like after you've cleaned high and low with one you feel like you're in a medical clean room or something. I still can't get over how GIANT that PN looks.

Yes they maybe overprice but some people can justify paying for it. Think of it like this, if you put x amount down and pay x amount each month, then it becomes a bill. Think of this analogy like what we do with cell phones and phone companies. We open an account with say whatever phone provider there is, and then we pay x amount each month for so many years for the service. Eventually the amount you pay the phone company add ups to what you would eventually pay for a rainbow. I've been with my phone company for about 5 years and I can say with the service and phones I've had, I could at lease own 1 rainbow complete system, maybe even with all the optional attachments.

It is pricey

I refuse to pay the interest that Rainbow finance charges. Even with great credit they try to trick you into paying an APR of 20%. I wrote a check for mine after getting a loan to consolidate some other debit from my local credit union. So I got my machine for $2600 and my personal loan is 3.4% APR. This will be the last Rainbow I buy so for me it’s justified but it’s not for everyone, certainly not for almost 5k after finance charges with there standard ā€œeasy paymentsā€ .

I also have exceptional credit but what I’m planing to do is finance half of the SRX along with half of the MiniJet and RainJet complete. I spoke to a dealer that gave me some prices and what I did was took the prices and added them up, then divide by half, then the amount of months paying for it, then charged the 22% (highest interest Possible for a rainbow) then add that to the principal and then multiply that by as many months financing it. Then I take that new amount and subtract from what I was originally financing, and then the remaining amount is what the financing company would make off of me in interest, which is only like 300, which is nothing to me.

Yep!

When I was watching the how to videos after I bought mine I was amazed at how big the filter actually is! It’s interesting that it’s not in a cartridge type thing anymore.

I wonder if it will be cheaper to change it yourself or about the same if you took it to a service center and have it changed that way. They need to update the how to videos for the optional accessories.

Cards

If you get a credit card no interest for 18 months. I'm pulling numbers off the top of my head. 3% balance transfer fee $75.
$150 a month for 18 months. You only have to pay transfer fee.
Its $75 twice a month or 37.50 a week. If you pay every week you could shave off 3-5 payments of 37.50.
If you can afford it I'd do it. I can't afford it. It looks like it's living up to the hype.

Well...

I was somewhat impulsive. My E2 black was perfectly fine, I just went crazy for the redesign since it was something that happens only about every 10 years or so. I could’ve used the money elsewhere however I still don’t regret it because I don’t plan to ever buy a brand new Rainbow again.

Hepa Filters- Service centers seem to vary on their prices sometimes charging way too much, at least in my area. You can save a ton of money doing it yourself, just order a genuine filter. You can usually YouTube service on most rainbow models. Something as simple as changing the hepa filter is relatively simple for most only taking minimal tools in most cases a flathead screw driver. The new model uses the torx head I’m guessing because most households don’t have those in the standard tool drawer thus making users take it to a service center. I do like that Rainbow now shows a how to video of such maintenance as most users are not always informed.

Do most financing company’s do 36 months (traditional way) of financing a rainbow? Or do most of them only do 18 months. I can’t do 18 months but 36 months makes it well more affordable and also budget friendly.... with 36 months financing I’m looking between 50-67, depending on the optional attachments I get with it. But 18 months financing would double the payments thus making it not affordable.

When I was a dealer

We financed up to 48 months in most situations with nothing down. You shouldn’t have any trouble I wouldn’t think. It really depends on your credit situation.

Torx driver

I know most bit sets wont have one that long/skinny, but you can buy a t20 screwdriver for like, 4 bucks. Or go to a service center...

For this Rainbow should have used the filter cover that doesn't need tools to open.Otherwise the filter WILL be neglected by most users. You can get the tools from any Home Depot,Lowes,Menards or other hardware places.

Price? I'm leaning toward an upgrade on Wednesday.

Mpbyrd - you said you paid around $2,600? Did that include much for extra accessories or just the standards?

I own the Gold E2 2-speed and may upgrade this week. There is nothing wrong with my machine, but I love the new styling and I've had mine for nearly 16 years now. This is the first model that feels "different" enough to warrant an upgrade. I'll need to buy several accessories to retain the same functionality and I'm curious what I should shoot for on pricing. I may trade my E2 if the offer is right, but I've heard mixed reviews on what they'll give for it. I won't part with it for less than $450 or so. This is my first upgrade experience...

Can't wait to see it!

One more thing.....

The new SRX has a timer feature. Does it turn the vacuum off completely after 30/60/90 minutes?
If so, doesn't this seem like a bad idea? Leaving a warm Rainbow sitting on top of a wet water basin used to be the best way to ruin your machine. I'm confused why Rexair would create a feature that does just that! Maybe I'm not understanding correctly and after the timer ends it goes into the lowest mode but doesn't shut off. If anyone knows, please share, otherwise I'll find out later this week and share my thoughts.

I have no idea if the interest rate is typical, but a writer on reddit (see link) says that he/she was charged around 20% interest on their Rainbow purchase. This unfortunate person could not afford payments and was facing late penalties every month. Be sure to understand the terms of any agreement you sign. If you need a 4 year loan to purchase a Rainbow, you probably should save your money for a while until you can afford to pay cash. At the very least see if you can set aside $90 or so month for at least a year to see if you really want a Rainbow that bad.

https://www.calculator.net/amortiza...anterm=4&cinterestrate=20&printit=0&x=62&y=20

Assuming a cost of $2900 and 4 years at 20%, the monthly payment would be $88.25. The total amount paid would be $4,235.91 with total interest of $1,335.91

Hmm

If you have great credit here's an option.
Credit card 18 months no interest.
When on 18th month get another card 18 months no interest. Here's the only fee 3%.
If you split up 2600 into 36 months.
Card one you pay $72 a month 18 months you paid about $1300 if you found up.
Card 2 73.75 a month for 18 months.
In the end you pay $2639.
0 being interest, $39 balance transfer fee on $1300 from card 1 to card 2.
The trick is don't use cards for anything.
If you do in the fine print is you pay off lower APR before higher APR.
If you bought a $10 item you pay interest on it until the entire balance is paid off.
If you are late that's usually fine. If you miss payment and just skip the payment or pay 30 days after due date that's when your up a creek. If you are late call customer service and they can take fees off.
I'm throwing this out there FYI if credit card or any merchant says they can't put refund etc. They are lying through there teeth. If they put it on the card they. Can take it off or vise versa. If there adament tell them you have the ability to put it on my card but that ability disappears. It doesn't if they can debit then they can credit.
I worked for amex for 8 years.
My wife had a past due on her bank account. I kindly demanded that banking location top manager. I asked about the due date was 1. We paid on the 20th. I asked the manager the cut date. She took a while to find it. I believe it was the 1st. I said the date we missed was the 1st. The 2nd was 1 day past due and the 19th was 18 days past due. Idk why but the manager got bank branch president since she wasn't following me.
She believed paying after the 1st was 30 days past due. I said no the 31st would be 30 days past due. The branch president said to bank manager you know he is right they were never 30 days past due. The whole branch got training. They took the 30 days past due off her credit. Wouldn't you know 640 became 750. The bank gave us a whole bunch of free small perk items.
If you followed that side tangent thanks.
If you didn't I'm sorry not trying to hijack the thread. I'm trying to educate and maybe help people.
I know lots of the most random things.

ralph123: that’s WISE ADVICE!!!!!!

I still remember when the last incarnation of the ā€œNEWā€ Rainbow came out in 2011, or was it 2010??? No matter, Because I acquired mine in 2012 on eBay. I was pleased with it until I grew bored with it in 2014, when I arrived at a mutually acceptable trade with Tom Gasko. I have no doubt that I will acquire and dispose of my next rainbow in the same fashion. I have no interest in getting the machine immediately. I acquired my last rainbow late, but it was right at the time that they re-designed the power nozzle. Perfect timing for me. I have no problem waiting for this one either. So many design elements of the current model look to be potentially problematic, with impending redesigning tasks in the immediate future. Let’s just wait and see how it all works out! I’m very patient in this way...

I just got mines the other week

I just got mines and what I did was I put 1875 cash down and then 1800 on credit card. I was going to finance but I didnt want the hard inquries on my credit report and if I went with credit card then it wouldn't hurt my credit as bad as financing. I love my SRX unit. I got mines along with the RainJet Complete and MiniJet for a total of 3675 (taxes inclucded) plus a free bottle of clean floor, fresh air and also a bottle of Aquamate, which will be use for my MiniJet. This is my first rainbow system and I love all the cool features. The RainJet is my go to for mopping floors now. After a few weeks of use, my SRX still smells brand new. On a side note, is there any other type of solution i can use in the MiniJet other than the aquamate solution, the same goes with the RainJet.
