My New Rainbow SRX 🌈

For the price

Not really to be honest. It’s a great machine I have about 1200sq ft home with lots of various types of flooring. If you really want a rainbow try to find One either at a vac shop or check craigslist, marketplace etc. We plan to eventually buy my grandpas house which is a bigger home with multiple floors so then I will need my old SE and my SRX for each level and will have a central vac put in. But honestly I just can’t see it being justified paying $3000 for a machine for a small apartment. That’s just my opinion.

I always liked Rainbows. I had the SE model for a long time, but sold it to finance the tools and repairs when I moved. My home had a 1970's central vac that I vowed to fix.

I don't regret my decision, as I'm sold on Central Vacuum, but I do appreciate the rainbow for solving the bad smell issue associated with many vacs.

Sweet. So it if anymore powerful that the E2 Black? Can the new PN be used with the older units? What is the rated wattage of the PN and of the Unit with and without the PN?

Rainbow E2 Blue Comparison

Hello,

My old E2 has some design flaws that make me hate using it and was wondering if they’ve been addressed with this new model. When I pull it the hose comes off of the machine a bit and air leaks out, reducing airflow. I have to press it back up against the machine to prevent this or pick it up and set it back down as I move around the house. Does the new design do this?

Also, when I pull it it tries to move to the side not straight and I hate how the power head does not swivel and lifts up on the backward pull. I also hate how short the hose is, I can’t move far from the machine or change directions without having to reposition the unit itself and then I have to re seal the hose, again.

The E2 black addressed most of these issues but they also made a crappy power nozzle for it that had narrow cleaning path so I did not want it. They did add a fifth wheel to the dolly which made it pull straighter but from looking at pics of the new dolly on the SRX it looks like they went back to 4 wheels again. Or am I not seeing the fifth? How much lighter is it? Does it have a higher CFM rating than the outgoing E2 line? Does it have sensors that tells when water level is getting to low or the water is getting to dirty? How long is the hose on the new one?

I have a 20 year old Hyla that is way easier to use than the E2 Blue so we use that far more frequently unless we want to run the E2 as a purifier. I also noticed they added a much bigger filter to the new SRX. Did they ad a charcoal as well?

I know I asked a lot of questions and appreciate it in advance if you would answer them. The Rainbow store I use to work at closed down so I’m not sure how I’m going to buy one if I do. Might have to wait to get a used one on FB Marketplace or EBay.

New Design

They need to ad a sensor that tells when the water is to low or is to dirty. Also change the blue bulbs to UV bulbs to kill bacteria in the water. I want to design the next Rainbow model.

Hissing when pulling vacuum

Hey- I think I know exactly what you mean. My 2006 gold 2 speed has always done this from day one, but only with the electric hose, the non-electric doesn't do it. It's like a hissing sound ONLY at the moment you're pulling the machine along with you, once you stop pulling that hissing stops....so it's not constant. I've always thought that it's unbelievable that a machine such as Rainbow would have that issue. I thought it was just an issue with mine at first, but I've read others too...so it must be common. It's not a huge deal to me but it is annoying that it does that. Hopefully, the new ones don't do that although I won't be getting a new one.

New hose

The new hose is very firm and doesn’t have any issues staying in, my main gripe about the new machine is the water basin is smaller than the original E2. If you were to have a lot of dirt you would have to empty the machine way more often.

So its not 2.5qt like its always been? Its a shame that it doesn't have the 4qt capacity like previous models. I have an idea for future accessories that Rexair should consider making for the rainbow system. The first one would be an optional soft roller cleaner head, kind of like what dyson has. I say this as more and more homes have hard surface floors and although the floor and wall brush is great, it doesn't buff and polish the floors like soft roller cleaner heads do. Another accessory that would be great would be a shower cleaner attachment, to clean the shower/tub with. Or even better, an attachment/accessory that clean bathroom/ kitchen fitures.

Rainbow SRX---A sales person will be coming to my place this AM(Saturday) to show me the machine.she says its the first one that was shipped to them the end of November.Be nice if it was a Christmas present from them!

The SRX is indeed very cool-better than other Rainbows. The sales lady took pictures and videos of my collection.I rea8lly need more space. That new Rainbow does well with powernozzle with the SS beater bar brush.Using the Rainbow as a purifier while I am at work.

In using this machine-like how the hose connects to the canister-very unique and effective!!Also interesting to use the Rainbow as an aircleaner of sorts. It is sort of funky to see the junk you picked up in the water bin.Just dump it outside!

So I’m guessing you got one?

If so I hope you enjoy it. I use mine quite often as an air purifier especially after cooking anything with a smell that lingers. I use mine several times a week so for me it’s a justified purchase.

Yes,best Rainbow ever. These are expensive-will use this one more so-its easier to use than the older versions. Also like the "press down" power dome over the water bin.And the multiple speeds.

SRX fun---the Volt powernozzle fits the SRX perfectly-no mods required. And the bin had more stuff in it!Dumpted it outside as the Rainbow saying goes-"gets the dirt out of your house!"The timer air clean mode is pretty neat!

You would have to film the unpacking of the machine by the salesman if they would let you.The salseswoman for mine unpacked the machine and set it on its box to show the features and how it was different than older models. After the first part of the demo-she let me used the powernozzle and other attachments-then see how much junk was picked up in the water bin-a vacuum where you use water as a "dirtmeter"!This version is sort of kool to use-esp with my Volt powernozzle. The powernozzle with the Rainbow is pretty good-but the adjustment for it is like on the their older powernozzles-a slider that covers air vent holes-no height adjust. The nozzle does have a SS brush roll that has replaceable brush strips.
