And yet I have a 44 year old Kenmore Sears Best 4.1 with the very first example of using a Triac to turn the vacuum on and off and to vary motor speed, has a handle mounted 3-position switch to turn the vacuum and power nozzle on or off and a variable speed knob at the back of the lid and it is trouble free. The circuitry is inside a little perforated metal cage inside a corner of the motor compartment. Never a hint of problems from it.
I will have all the original attachments but often because they are vintage and irreplaceable I use more pedestrian attachments I like for actual cleaning. Example, I won't use the original pale green attachments with some of my 1960s Kenmores preferring to use white 1970s attachments I have an abundance of.

That is totally understandable and would do that with a red princess if I had one because of the rarity.
I have a little paper bag that I fill with an IEC compact round dusting brush, square Electrolux dusting brush, Kirby g5 crevice tool, nilfisk crevice cone, IEC compact c4 upholstery tool and an Electrolux ZE65 upholstery tool.
The old style IEC round dusting brush is one of the best ever made and they are still available.
Not a huge fan of electronics either. The more simple they are, the longer they'd last. That's what I like about FQ and SQ. If I can own any SQ washer, this is what I'd have along with the matching dryer. It's the last residential model with the mechanical timer and it's also my most favorite SQ ever. I just love the looks of it, how the water sprays out at an angle especially during the spin cycle, you can fill in more water just like what this guy did, and I'd find the normal eco cycle useful for like washing vacuum bags or filters. I see these go on the market used for alot cheaper so if I'm able to get a second set for my house, I'll be on the lookout for them.
If it wasn't for a lack of parts the washer I would really like is one of those old Frigidaire Jet Cone washers. Those things really clean clothes well. I remember them as kid using them in the laudromat with my mom.
I would never buy another SQ after they screwed me over. I had a 2015 model (from memory) front loader which had a known controller board fault. They had comped owners many boards. Mine threw the same code as all the others, but magically maybe a year later than most. I called in and they said no way was it their fault as all the controller boards had failed by then. I pointed out an online post of a woman whos washer had a SN less than 100 from mine, same failure mode and they covered it three months earlier. Nope, but they offered me the great deal of a new board for $1100, so now I have an LG washer and the SQ dryer. At least the dryer is going strong, although one of the button silk screening has split around the edge. Once I adjusted the water level up on the LG washer, I actually prefer it to the SQ, and it cost less than an SQ control board.
This is a wonderful cleaner! I've used one at my friend's house a couple years ago, and it is a pleasure to use. Works fine to take care of all your household cleaning needs. My family member had one from the early 80's. I forget which model. That was a pleasure to use, quiet, and i always enjoyed dumping the canister and putting a new cone filter. I have a rainbow D2 and that carpet nozzle looks similar to the one you have. What i would do is keep the room dim, and use the power head light to be able to illuminate the area. Yes, i may be weird, but i found it, relaxing. That is one polished machine you have there. Clean. Looks brand new. Enjoy using this!
I so agree here! That's why I would rather purchase products made of that time frame then buy newer. My Proctor Silex automatic drip coffee maker with brew selector is one example.

i do that. i will use the Kenmore swivel floor nozzle and small crevice nozzle on my Electrolux vacuum cleaner.
What I'd also really like is a German made Whirlpool Duet if there were unlimited parts in stock. Had one from our last cabin and when I lived at a ranch. Best washer I've ever used. That's another reason why I got the LG because it's about as close to the Duet.
those are some fine machines and i like the laundry room with all the wood aesthetics; the cupboards, the counter tops, the window, the ceiling, and that sink is cute. It would be so relaxing to wash clothes in there. I would bring a book to read and play some relaxing nature music in the background. I like that setup.
I love running in the dark because it is like driving a combine at night! They both run like they did in the 80s! I own many other vintage appliances so that's just the vacuums. Wouldn't have any other machines!
I love 70s and 80s decor and my kitchen looks like a time from a bygone era!
That's a nice machine and taken care of will last forever!
This is my counter in my kitchen. Mixer is a 1977 Hobart KitchenAid K45 I serviced and I have a grinder and a slicer for it (newer but fits) and the blender is a 1988 Oster 16 speed complete with the set of 8 ounce mini blend jars in the original box. This equipment gets a workout regularly.

Anyone else here use a Coffeemaster vacuum siphon coffee maker? Best cup of coffee you will ever drink.
The new ones are junk, but the 80s and older are tanks! That's why I bought one. I take frozen yogurt and make my own version of Dairy Queen's Blizzard.
