I started talking with Dustin from here on the forum. Last year I bought my Convertible 1010 from him. I asked if he had any old Kirbys he wanted to sell and he said he had a Classic. Well a few days ago, I bought it. It is beautiful! It was factory rebuilt in June of 1994. The bearings are perfect and it sounds and cleans amazingly!!! Very happy with this purchase. Dustin really takes the time to clean and send A1 machines!

Congratulations on your purchase of a Model 1-CR/Kirby Classic! It was and is one of Kirby's finest cleaners.

It was designed in the 1960s (along with the Kirby wordmark lettering from narrow- to wide-cursive) based on feedback from distributors, dealers, management and customers. The first run was manufactured in 1969 and introduced to the sales field on January 18-22, 1970 (there was some overlap with the last sales of the Model DS 80--1967-70). Feature upgrades from previous models included an oval Sani Em-Tor, a rear-mounted switch and a wider nozzle with "wings" for better edge cleaning. The late '60s-early '70s-era is also indicated with its faux wood grain, browns, and golds. The Classic is one of two Kirby "woodies"; the other was the Model 1-CB/Kirby Classic Omega (1973-76).

Enjoy "loading up your woody" (apologies to the Beach Boys)!
