I'm very jealous lol - Been after one of these locally for a while now, I used to have one with the autosense and permabag but it packed up long ago and was thrown out. The permabag got blocked and the motor overheated. You must make sure that the permabag gets washed properly in water, or it will not allow sufficient airflow.
The TP Permabag was really the bagless predecessor to the Dust Manager, and like the Dust Manager needs its filters cleaning, it needs regular cleaning to the permabag.
The best feature of the TP2 was the Autosense - I loved to see the lights change colour when it came across dirt. It has a small microphone on the inlet to the bag housing, that senses dirt passing by it, so speeding up the motor.

I would like to get my hands on a Turbopower 3 someday, I see you have the TOL model there! I believe the Autosense isn't as fast responsive on the Turbo 3's unlike the Turbo 2's.

I think it has something to to with some Turbopower 2/3's having bigger sensor pads(my 1000 from Chris has the big sensor pad and takes ages before Autosense will kick in, unlike my Turbopower 2 Autosense and other 1000 they have the smaller sensor pad and it is way more sensitive, christ knows why?!?!)
Also on the Turbopower 3 you have the thicker longer hose, and the dirt has further to travel before it gets to the sensor, those three factors could be why the Autosense on the Turbopower 3 takes longer to kick in.

When i owned a TP3 i always thought the lazy autosense was due to the wider hose? Dirt not travelling as fast through the cleaner, therefore not hitting the sensor as hard?

It was just an idea!

That is what I suggested about the hose as well!

But also the sensors, I have noticed the big sensor is not as sensitive as the smaller one, maybe becuase the sensor doesn't go all the way the the tip of the fill tube if you see what I mean (see pictures in my other reply).
I think they used the smaller sensors on the later ones anyway

It is quite funny how I said I would love to get my hands on a Turbopower 3 someday and like a week later I ended up with the same model you have! haha.

It was a gimmick which no other manufacturer felt the need to fit to their cleaners. I know some Meile and Philips cylinder machines had automatic power settings, but they worked against the pressure which was building up within the cleaner, not by the noise which the grit made.

Like I mentioned in another message, if the Autosense model was capable of cleaning efficiently on it's lowest setting, then I can't understand why the basic models had such powerful motors. The Autosense should have been something which exceeded the cleaning power of the more basic models. As it was, one could argue that the Autosense cleaner was not as good as the more basic versions.
