Roger - thanks for the link. I think this is the same one Miele told me about a few months ago - but the original hose had a button release on the dust channel that connects to the main suction channel before the floor head, thus locking it onto the machine. That hose seems to be friction fit only.

That hose, I wonder why Meile don't use that bent wand on their cylinder cleaners any more. I have not seen that in years.

I managed to negotiate the price of £40 for a display model from our local Euronics

Here's the Aussie take on the Fakir and Philips upright, it was marked in OZ under the General Electric brand, I have posted it here in the past so sorry for if you have seen it before, but it a great little machine

Wonder how many other brands they where made under.

I'll chime in too...

Here in Canada we had two versions. The first version I had was a Viking (Eaton's dept. store). It was beige and brown. The second was a Clarke 500, it was in "Clarke" red and black. I no longer have the machines.
