My Lux one , I think the hose and cleaner head would have needed more work for the USA market. Its a lovely machine but the hose setup let it down alot. To switch off the cleaner head you had to tug on the connecting plugs to disconect them. Not very user freindly. You could see this machine was designed for a market with little to no Carpets in there homes as the whole pn setup was a little of an afterthought. If you look behind the machine you can see the wire and plug connection for the PN. The PN itself is great, Light to use with very good brush action

The hose, tools and PN are made in the USA. Can't verify but I was told the canister is assembled here too but all the parts are made in Europe..
Wish they had that braided hose here in the USA. Love it

What luxman107 is correct as far as I know. At least it used to be. Electrolux started manufacturing that style of hose, wand, and power nozzle before they ever changed to Aerus. As far as I know, the manufacture of the FloorPro, the central vac, the uprights (except FreshEra), the canisters (except Platinum), plus the wands, hoses, tools (except Sidekick), and power nozzles, are made at Bristol. I've never had any idea where the air and water filters were made. HomeCare Industries used to make the bags, scent products, shampoos, and other cleaners/treatments at thier U.S. plants. Whether they still do remains to be seen as HomeCare Industries is in a tailspin now.

Can anyone refer me to a dealer?

I'm looking to buy over the phone/internet. I've watched the Houston market shrivel up from 4 dealers to 1 (almost 1). I don't necessarily want to buy local because they never answer their phone and the last time I tried to business with them they tried to screw me over. Who knows? Maybe one of you can refer me to a dealer who will give me a cash price? My email is listed in my profile info. Please send me a message if you know of someone who can help me out.

Are the Platinum wands and P/N interchangeable?

Dan,

I can't find the original thread where this was addressed. Are these the exact same fittings as what is used on the TriStar? I'd love to know because i just saw a website that sells a 12 foot Tristar hose and I'd gladly buy it and then order a separate hose connector for the Platinum to attach to this hose so I could have a 12 foot hose for the Platinum. I've been spoiled having the 14 foot hose on my Rainbow Onyx.

I got my platinum before it was actually released in January. At that time extra part where not available so I ordered two extra wands from a tri star distributor. Exactly the same color amd everything.

Here is from the front.. Just like the Electrolux C style bags, they get like a brick and barely any loss of suction.

So

Are the Aerus home care bags anti Microbial/ Antibacterial?. I dont like the thought of germs and nastyness growing the bag.

Guardian Turbo Tool.

Hi everyone, not sure if this thread is still going but the Aerus/Sauber/Lux vac we are discussing has a "Turbo tool" similar to a kirby in regards to the fact that it cleans, sands, polishes and is also a massager.

In Australia it is sold for around $300 under the Sauber name for a few of the tools, but Lux also sold this set with their previous vacuum.
The Lux distributors of Australia posted that they found a pallet of the turbo tools in their warehouse and are selling them for only $50 Aud (Lux branded).

I just purchased one and will give a review if it comes. I'm not too sure if the tool will work on the American vacuums in regards to the power supply but I would assume the power from the unit to the powerhead would be the same.
Cheers guys.

I wish EAerus lux did offer those here in the states. I think it would come in handy for a lot uses. Like you, I am not sure if it what fit the platinum power hose used here. From your picture I don't think it would fit the hoses here

turbotool

is one thing that was tried and never took off. Here is the tool from the 1980's. Sanded ,massaged, polished and did everything theAustralian tool did. Customers were not into it.

Does the Guardian Platinum have automatic shut-off like the older Lux?

It still won't run without a bag inside like the other Aerus/Electrolux, is that true for the Platinum?[this post was last edited: 8/9/2013-17:36]

Erik,
If you mean for full bag, no, there is just a full bag indicator light in the led function center..There is also a pre filter change light in this section. In the case of ever overheating, yes there is a shut off.

Attn all platinum owners

I just aquired a silverado deluxe and was wondering if any of you aerus lux guardian platinum owners also had a silverado deluxe. If so I was wondering how a platinum compared to a silverado deluxe. I love my silverado deluxe.

i wish

i had the same luck as you guys with the new bags! I bought 2 new packages and they STILL leak! so i am back to glueing the Synthetic bags! I see your pic's lux and i see they dont leak, i wish i knew what i was doing diffrent than you!

I cut a piece of Hepa cloth disposable bag material from a Simplicity type F HEPA bag, into a square. I place this square over the pre-motor hepa filter and I use the blue paper Platinum Bags. While they do leak some fine dust, it's caught on the HEPA bag material and my pre-motor filter is spotless. Lots easier than making a Hepa bag with a glue gun.

Interestingly, my Platinum Edition's motor stops when the full bag light comes on. I have the very early version with the first power nozzle cover. Here at the Museum, they sent me (free) a second one (to display) with the "new" power nozzle hood. Haven't got any dirt into it yet, but I'm assuming it shuts off when the full bag light comes on too. One day I'll have to actually vacuum dirt into it to see. Right now, it's a "rug virgin".

That is interesting Tom. My motor doesn't shut when the full bag lite comes on. Maybe I will try letting it run a little longer after the light comes on.

Btw, my machine is just about a year old now, got mine the end of last October before they officially came out in January. I go through about a bag a month. The pre motor filter is showing some dirt, but don't think it is in need of replacement yet. The light to change it hasn't come on.

Does the Guardian Platinum now have the bag door tube seal like the other Lux vacuums?
