My new 12 Amp Mighty Mite "Pet Lover"

     I ended up getting my brother a Sanitaire Mighty Mite for Christmas and he liked it so much that I decided to get one for myself, but opted for an extra 2 amps just because.  It arrived today from EcoVac (https://www.ecovacuum.com/1.html).  Weaker fit and finnish by a little bit compared to the Sanitaire, and comes with the usual combo dusting and upholstery tool as opposed to two separate tools.  The floor tool is a combo hard floor/rug tool and has a few joints to keep good contact.  All plastic.  The wand is metal and telescopic.  The finish on the canister is a metallic purple, but all plastic.  It came with a turbo tool and a HEPA filter.  I got V.A.C. HEPA bags for it as well.  It pulls 80 inches of water at the canister, I have not measured CFM yet. 


 


     It feels very powerful but the hose must have a lot of resistance because the pitch of the motor dramatically increases when you attach it.  It isn't clogged and cleans well.  I'd recommend running it a few seconds without the hose when you are done using it just in case heat is a problem.  


 


     What do you guys think of these Mighty Mites?  Do you thing the 12 amp version is actually better than the 10 or is it just a less efficient motor?

I had one of these for about 7 or 8 years. It was a good purchase for me. Although, I recently sold it.

It was a decent performer and still working well when I "rehomed" it. Early on, I bought a bare floor nozzle for it. I didn't care for the hard floor performance from the nozzle that came with it. The turbo tool broke within a year. I had to tape the suction release/reduction valve on the handle in the closed position, because it was frequently working it's way open. I did occasionally use the rear exhaust port as a blower- that can be a handy feature.

It was perfectly fine for bare floors and above the floor cleaning tasks with a decent hose length. I found it a little on the loud side. Overall, I felt it was a good value since I only paid $80 for it brand new.

Mighty Mite

While i've never had the same version as the ones above. I did once have a red line Sanitaire model that was 12 amp. I found it to be way too loud for my liking and I think it's airflow was a baird 3.5 or 4.5 which for it's power consumption is unimpressive.

I'd guess that these would be quieter than the one I had due to the hepa filter. While compact it wouldn't be a first choice for a straight suction machine.

I like mine surprisingly

I don’t remeber how many amps it is, but it’s not too loud. I’m surprised at how effective and useful this little vac is! I bought it to resell at an estate salle, but ...not sue sure now.

THERE IS A CLOG!

There is residual plastic from the molding process almost completely blocking off the hose in the sharp angle in the handle!  It is almost impossible to photograph.  I'm going to try and bust it loose.  I also found a replacement, wire-reinforced hose too.


 


 


Well, I didn't post this and broke it out!  Nearly 100% blocked.  No wonder it sounded like the machine had a super narrow crevice tool on kit all the time!

Our church has one of these, only it's slightly older and bright blue. It is used for the stairs and basement mostly, but it goes and goes. I had to replace a wheel after one of it's many trips down the stairs, the exhaust cover is long gone and the bag door hinge is broken.. I believe the cord has been ripped out of the bottom and I know once someone replaced the bag but used the wrong one and filled the housing with dirt. It is beat up and broken but still works great and has great suction!

I heard this is a good vacuum. I've seen recently the Bissell zing vacuum. The zing is comparable if not better in most areas.

Some things are just not what they used to be. If you could find one of the red sanitaire models they actually have a different motor with a complete seal for use with a HEPA filter. this machine has a clip-on HEPA filter but the holes behind the wheels prevent you from actually using it properly. I stopped carrying these in the store I was at because I was getting so many dead Motors right out of the box.
I think these are priced really well right now. Please give us an update in a year or two I'd like to know if it's still working.

I did notice a few air leaks.  I'm using HEPA bags, so it should do okay, minus the carbon.  A lot of the air is going through the filter, so that's something.  I figured the Sanitaire versions would be more solid of course.
