My Lux Dolphin turned up this morning, so I went home at lunchtime to have a play.

It is a lovely machine, with all it's tools, including the small ones, although the dusting brush is ruined!

However, one issue I have found already is the motor speed selector on the hose doesn't do anything. Looking at the hose ends it seems like a sealed unit. Has anyone succeeded in stripping one down to get at the contacts? Or should I aim a can of contact cleaner at it and hope that works?

Can't play with it too much yet until the turbopower junior is back together, as I will get told off, but any help anyone can give will be appreciated when the time comes (hopefully next week!)

Cheers

Sam

Hi sam...

Hi Sam, Hope your ok and glad your electrolux arrived safe..

It's worth looking at the hose to see if there is anything you can do.
But from past experiance once the hoses go funny and starts playing up theres not much you can do.

I have a Electrolux with the same style of hose and that has probs to.
I took it to my supplier as he was selling them at the time these machines was on sale and he said there wasn't much they could do at the time and ended up just replacing the whole hose.
Not that they sold many of the TOL models.

Hope you have some luck with it.
Remember to post pictures:o)

Yep it was very well packaged. Currently in the back of my car. The hose issue doesn't make it in use able thankfully as it runs on full power by default.

Needs a good spa session though! Will try and get pictures tomorrow of it.

I can't change the title of this thread

But I had it up and running last night. Works very well, apart from a metallic scraping sound when the motor spins down after turning it of. Hopefully that's just dry bearings.

I fitted a bag to it and did the vacuuming and it works very well, although the floor tool has a habit of locking itself in a position, with a snap sound when getting it moving again.

The variable speed control does not work, but having had it apart last night all the solder joints are dry and move, so hopefully a re-solder will fix that!

Pictures..

I got 2 normal plastic extension poles as well as the metal adjustable ones too

The broken speed control

I also managed to snap the latch that holds the hose to the machine, but it should glue back together nicely enough. Lesson learned though, it looks like the plastic is quite brittle!

I also scanned and shared the Dolphin entries in my electrolux parts/diagrams book. Link below to my Google Drive. I'm tempted to ring the number up and see if the company (Distri Parts) are still going, the book is from 1993...

The link does not work for me putting it in the URL box - copy and paste though and it seems to work - https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B4YfVzZhLwvIRE05NnZkMGI5Ums/edit?usp=sharing
