My Latest Wap , sl200

I recently got this new wap, the sl200, The blue and black one.

Its predisessor the wap m2 is well over 30 years old and we use it every day in our workshop. So when I found the sl200 on Gumtree I bought it. They are locally made In Johanasburg and have a very simple but extremely robust design. They are also extremely expensive due to the high quality materials used, around $ 1400.00.
I love the fact that you can fit just about any range off attachments to them.

Are these vacuums wet-dry pickup or dry only?Appear to be VERY nice machines-like the two motor design-can you use only one motor?Remind me of a similar wet-dry twin motor machine that Bill of the former Vacuum Cleaner Hospital got from the pharmeceutical manufacturer in town-God only knows what that vac picked up?-sadly both motors in the machine were blown.Guess now we know why it was surplused!That Pharmeceutical company changes names so much-hard to remember!

They can do wet and dry pic up. These machines are very popular with building industry and food and printing industry. In the printing industry they use them to suck up excess  ink and gulp from the printing machines. 


 


You can only use it with two motors but then again why would you want only one motor, On a drum this size it would not move enough air out of the container to make sufficient  vacuum. 


 


I had a sl200 some years back and used to use it like a central vacuum in our old ( small ) house. I would leave it in the garage and run a 100 meter hose into the house and vacuum, aaah silent vacuuming

Some users may want reduced suction for some jobs.Good idea and unique to use one as a central vacuum.It shows wet vacuums are used for more than just picking up water-ink,and whatever was at that pharmaacy plant out my way.I had heard of some twin motor machines made in the US Tornado,and older NSS Bronco where you could use one of both motors-they were external filter.Motors were 15A @ 120V.These machines were made to fit on top of 55Gal drums.

Actually the idea of been able to shut down one of the motors is more of a back up thing, Soteco of Italy makes a range of wet& dry vacuums, Badged as many different brands, Prochem, Tornado and many more. The machines have up to 3 motors. The advantage is if you are on a site working, say resurfacing tiled floors or factory floors if one motor blows you can carry on with the on the job with the one motor. 


 


I suppose you could just want less suction but heaven knows what for. The more suction the better in my opinion

I like the most suction,too-just some users may not-don't know really why.If you are going to use a Monster type vacuum-you are going to get strong suction.Its for a BIG job.And the twin motor machines used on top of the 55G barrel were often used for collecting metal cuttings and cutting oil in machine shops-for machine shop cleanup.Those Soteco vacuums are very nice-and a huge selection.
