Here is my latest Hoover item to add to my collection. It is a model 63 but it came with its matching box and tools. The only thing that did not come with it was the handle box and instruction booklet.

Here is the box and tools...the hose was in very good shape...I do not think that it was used much. The box is in VERY good shape...

This is the underside of the machine itself. It needed the bottom bearing lubed but after that it ran like new. The brushes are still in good shape. It was all original except for the later grey Hoover cord. There was a date stamped under the hood 12-4-89 which I guess is when the cord was put on. It does suffer from a wobbly handle but it does not hurt its performance.

Here it is in the line-up. I have it with my other recent aquisition, a model 28 ensemble complete with matching box. It is rare to find the machine and the matching serial number box. This just proves that these things are out there and that you do not have to pay crazy ebay prices for them. The 63 came from my friend at the vac shop. The 28 came from an antique shop. They each cost me less than $50. I just love these old Hoover cleaners!

Beautiful Machines Tom!

Just goes to show you that treasures are out there. You just have to find them. There are so many Hoovers that I would consider my favorites and those are among them.

funny that Greg calls it a 62. the paint on the base DOES look kinda warm-toned, as if a 62's color.

Greg...

The top on my Hoover 28 is bakelite. Some were done in metal too. The brand new one at the Hoover Historical Center has a metal hood. I have run across many 28's with metal tops over the years. I think it just depended on how plentiful the materials were after the war. They also made these 28's as late as 1957...yes 1957 for commercial fleet customers. They had metal tops and were more grey/black in color. They had the Hoover name and logo on the bag. This design was around before the war in 1939 as the model 305 and continued well after the war was over. It could be one of Hoover's highest volume machines.

Nice Finds......

Tom

Those are 2 very nice classic Hoovers :)

The Grey cord dosent look too out of place on that 63- maybe you will come across a correct one from a parts donor at some point :).

Great Finds, Tom!!

Both beautiful machines! And with the complete ensemble with matching serial #'s on the boxes is frosting on the cake! And the 63looks like it either hasn't seen much use, or was well cared for by its previous owner! Congratulations!!

Sweet!!!!!!

Gotta love those 63's!!!! I have not found many here in the Buffalo area. More 62's than 63's.
