Hey, I wanted to show everybody what I found at Goodwill today-Hoover windtunnel self-propelled(I only paid $9.99 for it ) do you think it was a good deal? It came with all of the attachments and the only thing wrong with it is the switch is kind of funny- it only works when you move it a certain way-any ideas? I am posting some "before" pictures. -very dirty!!

WOW

Id say it was a good deal Dustin. It will clean up nicyly,as for the switch the plastic pece and/or the switch probably has a worn spot. Its not a hard fix at all,a bead of good glue or an epoxy should cure that.
Put the drive handle in the Off/neutral position take the 2 screws off in the back at the carry handle and examine the switch mechinism. you may have to get creative in putting something there to "reconstruct" the plastic arm. If you need help give me a call.Ill be on the road soon, I may/maynot get a signal where Im going but you can text me also. 401-996-1948.
Hope this helps...

That is a great find. That poor machine though... It's been through a lot from the pictures! I love that color, I always wanted to find one that color. Mine is silver, and it is a pretty nice machine.... it cleans GREAT. After you get it clean, a nice coat of car wax on all the plastic surfaces will help it to shine. You may want to replace the belts ASAP... if the belts wear, the V belt can dig into the agitator and ruin it. How nice that you found a used one with all the attachments! I've seen several used ones and they are always missing the attachments, scuffed up like most used self-propelleds, and the plastic tool door at the top is either broken or missing. I baby mine so that it doesn't become one of those. Enjoy it ;o) The good thing is that you can find bags EVERYWHERE... belts are another story... I think the only place is online or in a vac store now, though I know Sears used to carry them.

Uh oh. I must confess Bobby, on the 2 windtunnels I had I did take the plastic tool cover off. Almost every time I opened it I got cut by the edges. The Savvy I have now is almost 3 years old and I still have the cover on it because the edges where you put your thumb to open it is rounded and dosnt cut my skin.

AFTER!!!!

Im posting some "after" pics! Its still not perfect, but I dont usually clean vacuums perfect for me to use, but if i give one to somebody or sell them, they are like new.

I took these pictures out on the porch because my camera batteries didnt have enough juice left in them to use the flash. By the way, it works perfectly, picks up VERY well, and is easy to push. Do I really need to replace the belts? The self-propel belt seems ok, its a little cracked, but its not slipping. the brush roll belt looks fine to me, but I have never had one of these before.

uh...

Now I think I need to replace the belts.. I just got home from helping a lady from our church get things packed up- she has to stay at a motel for a week so they can fix the ceiling in her apartment(her neighbor upstairs left the bath running and overflowed the tub, soaked her ceiling) that happened in january, they are fixing it tomorrow. she wanted me to bring a vacuum-NO PROBLEM... so I thought I was about to vacuum up a small scrap of thin plastic covering and oops! It was the plastic covering off of a chair. the plastic wrapped around the brush faster than I could think and the next thing the apartment smelled like burning rubber. YEAH... I think I need new belts. It still works though, the belts didnt break.
